As the Strategic Planning and Business Development Analyst, you support strategic planning, business development and analytics as part of a dynamic team and will interface with executive leaders and various leadership teams across the health system to assist them in developing strategic plans and priorities for their respective areas of responsibility. Responsibilities (25%)
  • Principal responsibilities involve supporting corporate strategic planning function, service lines, and business development; developing useful and timely analysis and providing direct input to leaders to assist in identifying and evaluating areas of opportunity and prioritization. (20%)
  • Produce quarterly market share reports and analyze the market share data for new businessopportunities. Use market share data to produce annual demand projections for the three-year financialforecast. Collaborate with leaders across the organization to ensure they understand and apply the information and directly assist in developing plans and priorities. (20%)
  • Accountablefor accuracy of market,environmental, and competitive data, analysis of market trends and assisting appropriate service line leaders and/or Vice Presidents with identification and exploration of business development/growth opportunities or countermeasures to competitive threats.
This includesspecial report requests and responsibility of data and tools currently available such as MHA Data Koala, SG2 Health Care Intelligence, EPIC, etc. (15%)
  • Produce value analysis to assist executive leadership in evaluating partnership and merger/acquisition opportunities (10%)
  • Responsible for Certificate of Need (CON) filings in conjunction with the Strategic Planning Specialist; lead process for developing financial projections for CON filings. (10%)
  • Create and deliver effective presentations ensuring data translates to information; utilizing trend and statistical analysis when appropriate.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Periodic assistance to service line leaders in the development and ongoing maintenance of their Business Plans. Work collaboratively with service line leaders and teams providing financial data, ensuring data accuracy, and assisting with analysis to reach conclusions and formulate action plans. Provide demographic and market trend data for the Community Health Needs Assessment and proactively assist in recommending and providing other data that may be pertinent in planning for community needs and benefits in the future. Actively participate in service line teams. Working in collaboration with the teams to analyze financial reports and business plans and assist the teams in reaching conclusions and in formulating action plans. Support the development of a MidMichigan Health Physician and Advanced Practice Provider manpower plan on an annual basis. Work in collaboration with service line leaders and finance department to drill down to the financial detail requiredfor explaining variances, ensuring data accuracy & integrity, and maximizing appropriate reimbursement. Employees are required to take a Computer Skills Assessment via the learning management system upon hire. Based on the results of the assessment, an employee may be required to participate in further learning opportunities offered by MidMichigan Health.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS
Three to five years' experience in Health Care finance or operations preferred. Minimum of two years of experience analyzing, interpreting, reporting, and communicating data. Must have strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with employees from all levels within the organization. Must have the ability to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner to both individuals and groups. Must possess strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Strong data analytical skills required to support multiple departments utilizing various databases. Must possess effective written and verbal presentation skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines. Familiarity with statistical software and decision support systems required. Mandatory tuberculosis (TB) testing must be done as required. Mandatory Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training must be completed annually according to the Exposure Control Plan.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death. Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position. Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description. Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s). Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching. Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MidMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required. Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake. Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
