The Little Gym Location:
Wilmington, NC Reports to: District Manager About The Little Gym The Little Gym began 50 years ago as a place where children could learn and grow through movement, fun, and imagination. Over time, it's grown into a global community built on our unique Three-Dimensional Learning philosophy— Get Moving, Brain Boost, and Citizen Kid —helping children ages 4 months to 12 years build the confidence, skills, and life-readiness for life's biggest adventures. About the Role As the Gym Director, you're the heartbeat of the gym—leading with energy, warmth, and a passion for helping kids and your team grow. You'll create a fun, achievement-filled space while driving success through enrollment, retention, and team development. Every day, you'll foster an environment where kids build confidence, parents feel proud, and teammates thrive.
What You'll Do:
Teaching:
Teach fun, high-energy classes using our proven curriculum and method (don't worry, we'll train you!) Create a positive, welcoming environment for every child and family before, during, and after class Provide exceptional classes and maintain a high-quality product — core priorities of your role. Your teaching load will vary as needed to best support the gym's operations Passionately pursue growth by continually building new skills and deepening understanding of The Little Gym program and child development
Leadership:
Be the face of your gym by leading with enthusiasm, care, and ownership Create a fun, professional, and growth-minded culture that encourages your team to strive for excellence Lead team trainings that focus on program quality, energy, and teamwork Communicate clearly and often with your team and district manager through Slack, email, and in-person conversations, even when not in the gym Participate in weekly leadership meetings to share wins, challenges, and ideas for improvement Operations Understand and manage key KPIs and financial goals to drive enrollment, retention, and profitability Keep the gym sparkling, safe, and organized so parents and kids feel comfortable having fun in our gyms Maintain strong relationships with families through friendly, consistent communication and exceptional customer service Create and manage staff schedules to balance coverage, labor costs, and flexibility This role follows a five-day work week, including one weekend day. Flexibility is key, as the schedule may adjust to meet the evolving needs of the gym Sales Have a passion for selling and building a business through relationship building and strong customer service Reach out to new leads and invite them to experience The Little Gym through introductory classes Build connections with families during their first visits and convert them into raving fans and members Focus on growing enrollment each month while maintaining strong member retention Promote camps, birthday parties, events, and retail items to keep families engaged year-round You'd Fit in at The Little Gym if… You love high-fives, laughter, and seeing kids light up when they learn something new You're a natural leader with a playful side that is both fun and focused Kids adore you, parents trust you, and your team looks up to you You thrive in a fast-paced, people-centered environment You have a background in child development, education, or gymnastics is a plus, but not required You are eager for an ideal opportunity to take ownership and operate a small business
