Negotiable Employees being promoted to a higher classified position receive the minimum for the position or a pay rate adjustment of 8% whichever is greater. All regular positions also entitle the employee to several benefits including health, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement which is largely paid by New Mexico Tech for the employee and dependents.

    JOB SUMMARY:
    New Mexico Tech is searching for a Director to provide leadership for the Energetics Materials Research and Testing Center (EMRTC). The Director drives the vision and mission of EMRTC and is in charge of development and implementation of business plans for EMRTC, increasing and securing contracts and funding opportunities and making tactical decisions in obligating and expanding test and research facilities. The Director provides strategic guidance to the senior leadership team at EMRTC who oversee the day-to
    • day leadership and oversight of the EMRTC's test, evaluation and research activities on its forty-square mile explosive test range.
    Job Function:
    • Development of strategic initiatives, business development activities, and internal planning activities
    • Develop and secure contracts and funding opportunities through connections with external partners, customers, and funding agencies.
    • Development of new range facilities and sites, oversee the upkeep of current sites, and the development of equipment-replacement plans and capital outlay requests
    • Leading administrative duties and authorities related to EMRTC operations.
    • Provides leadership to the Deputy Director for day-to-day leadership for the Field Operations, Ordnance, and Safety/Security divisions within EMRTC, including assisting Associate Directors for those divisions in administrative and personnel matters.
    • Evaluates the performance of senior leadership and management in the organization.
    • Manages collaboration among the various divisions and Associate Directors at EMRTC, to include managing long-range schedules and testing plans.
    Secondary Job Functions or Duties:
    • Represents EMRTC from a business-development perspective with external customers and prospective clients.
    • Travel for technical interchange meetings, conferences, or other business development functions.
    • Provide direct support to sponsored test and evaluation activities on an as needed basis.
    • Support to Ordnance and/or Safety activities on an as-needed basis.
    • Acts as the executive liaison to main campus for the purposes of strategic planning, cross-campus support, and academic interactions
