Job Description
Overview of the Role If you've built your career in restaurants and discovered that the part of leadership you love most is developing people, building great teams, training leaders, and making the restaurant a better place to work, we'd like to meet you. We're a McDonald's franchisee organization looking for an experienced restaurant or hospitality leader who wants to take the next step beyond running a restaurant. This is not a traditional HR position. It's a hands-on leadership role working directly with our senior leaders to help build the people side of a growing restaurant company. You'll spend time in our restaurants getting to know our teams, developing leaders, strengthening culture, improving how we onboard and support employees, and taking ownership of projects that make our organization better. We're especially interested in people who have come up through restaurant operations, training, or people development and are ready to broaden their leadership experience. You don't need to arrive as an HR expert. You do need to understand restaurants, love developing people, and want to grow into a bigger leader. What You'll Do This is a leadership role, not a desk job. You'll spend time building relationships with managers and crew, understanding what's happening on our teams, recognizing great people, helping solve problems, and becoming someone our employees know and trust. We want restaurant teams to be genuinely glad when you walk through the door. Build a culture people want to be part of Help us make work feel different. You'll lead recognition, celebrations, milestones, events, team activities, and other programs that make people feel noticed and appreciated. We're looking for someone who naturally sees opportunities to celebrate people and acts on them—not someone who needs a checklist reminding them to do it. Develop and support our people You'll help new employees get off to a great start through onboarding and orientation, support the development of managers and future leaders, and partner with restaurant leadership on opportunities to make our teams stronger. You'll also become a trusted resource employees can turn to when they have questions or need support. Make our people systems work Great culture still requires great execution. You'll help ensure onboarding, employee documentation, recurring people processes, training initiatives, and other commitments happen accurately and on time. We're not looking for someone who wants to spend their career doing paperwork. We are looking for someone who understands that great leaders follow through on the details. Take on whatever comes next We're growing, which means not everything will arrive with an instruction manual. You may help open or acquire restaurants, redesign an onboarding process, launch a new employee program, solve a recurring organizational problem, improve a training system, or take ownership of a project we've never done before. We'll give you an objective, support you, and increasingly expect you to figure out how to get there. Who Will Thrive Here You might currently be a: General Manager or Assistant General Manager who loves the people side of the business Restaurant Training Leader or Training Manager People Experience or People Development Leader Area or multi-unit restaurant leader Hospitality leader with strong operations experience High-potential restaurant leader ready to move into an above-restaurant role More important than your current title is how you lead . We're looking for someone who: Loves people. You genuinely enjoy building relationships, developing others, and helping people succeed. Brings energy. You're optimistic, engaging, and naturally contribute to the atmosphere around you. Understands restaurant life. You appreciate the pace, unpredictability, pressure, and importance of being present with restaurant teams. Takes ownership. If something belongs to you, other people don't have to chase you to make sure it gets done. Can figure things out. You don't need a detailed playbook for every assignment. Is organized and dependable. Details matter, deadlines matter, and your word matters. Wants coaching. You're interested in becoming substantially better than you are today. Has ambition. You're looking for more than your next job. You want greater responsibility and the opportunity to build a meaningful career. Experience We're Looking For Restaurant or hospitality leadership experience is strongly preferred. McDonald's experience is especially valuable , including experience as a General Manager, Department Manager, Area Leader, Training Leader, People Experience Leader, or other restaurant/above-restaurant leadership position. Experience with training, onboarding, recruiting, employee engagement, or people development is valuable, but formal HR experience is not required . A bachelor's degree is welcome but not required . Leadership ability, restaurant experience, judgment, initiative, and potential matter more to us. This position requires regular travel between our restaurants and a consistent in-person presence with restaurant teams. Where This Can Lead We're not hiring someone simply to administer a People function. We're looking for someone we can develop into a future senior leader. You'll work directly with senior leadership and gain exposure to people leadership, restaurant operations, organizational development, training, process improvement, leadership development, HR, acquisitions, and strategic projects. As you demonstrate capability, we'll give you more. More difficult problems. More ownership. More exposure to the business. More opportunities to lead. Our goal is for the right person to grow over time into a senior leader capable of owning increasingly significant parts of our organization. You don't need to be that leader today. You need to want to become that leader. What Success Looks Like A year from now: Our restaurant teams know you and trust you. Our people feel more recognized and connected. New employees consistently get a great start. Our managers see you as someone who makes their restaurants and teams better. When senior leadership gives you something important, we know it's going to move forward. And you've grown substantially - taking on bigger problems, making better decisions, and demonstrating that you're ready for greater responsibility.
