Job Description
Director of Pleasant Hill Afterschool Academy Position Summary The Director of Pleasant Hill Afterschool Academy is responsible for the overall leadership, administration, and daily operation of a structured afterschool program serving elementary-aged children. The program provides a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment that includes reading time, supervised recreation, enrichment activities, and social development. The Director ensures that the program reflects the mission and values of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church while operating with professionalism appropriate to a non-profit organization. Key Responsibilities Program Leadership and Operations Plan, develop, and oversee a balanced daily schedule Ensure a safe and welcoming environment Maintain staff-to-child ratios Establish routines and expectations Monitor program quality Staff Supervision and Development Recruit, schedule, and supervise staff Lead regular staff meetings Provide coaching and support Foster a positive team environment Student Engagement and Development Build positive relationships with students Encourage respectful behavior Support responsibility and confidence Address behavioral concerns appropriately

- Attendance monitoring Safety and Compliance Ensure compliance with regulations and Safe Sanctuary policies Maintain attendance and incident records Oversee check-in/check-out procedures Respond to incidents appropriately
- Safe Sanctuary Trained Qualifications Bachelor's degree preferred in an educational or related field Experience working with children and or an elementary afterschool program Strong leadership and communication skills Conflict resolution skills Working Conditions Part-time position aligned with afterschool hours.
