Job Description

Job Summary Shift Dispatcher At Central Alabama Electric Cooperative (CAEC), our Shift Dispatcher is part air-traffic controller, part service order wrangler, and part Chaos Coordinator. If you are steady under pressure and ready to keep information moving when the lights blink, phones ring, and priorities change fast, we would like to talk to you about how you can enhance our operations outside of the normal 9-to-5 schedule. Dependable, service-minded people who can keep a clear head, a steady voice, and an organized approach when every detail matters. The strongest candidates will be able to: Stay calm, focused, and professional when routine operations become outages and emergencies. Communicate clearly and courteously with members, broadband customers, field crews, and coworkers through a variety of channels, often simultaneously. Track multiple moving pieces at once, including maps, crew activity, and customer/system data. Use sound judgment, follow procedures, and ask the right questions as conditions change. Work the assigned weekend or evening shift and remain available for overtime, on-call rotations, holidays, storm restoration, and emergency work. As the central connection point among field/operations crews, customer service, CAEC members, and broadband customers, you will keep operations moving safely and efficiently by: Monitoring outage management, SCADA, fiber/broadband, communication, security, and other operational systems. Coordinating with field personnel to support service order flow, outages, and emergencies. Reviewing system information and maps, identifying next steps, notifying appropriate personnel, and providing accurate updates. Creating, routing, processing, and documenting service orders and customer activity. Assisting members/customers with service, account, billing, payment, outage, and related needs. This position is assigned to either the weekend shift or evening shift. Although based primarily at the Prattville Headquarters Office, reporting to other CAEC operations centers or service centers may be required. Because reliable service does not pause for weather, weekends, holidays, or after-hours emergencies, flexibility and dependability are essential. At CAEC, we offer meaningful careers that make a lasting impact on the communities we serve, along with competitive pay, excellent benefits, and a team that values continuous improvement, practical problem-solving, and people who step up when it counts. Join a team that believes reliable service is not just what we provide. It is a responsibility we share. If you are ready to make a difference, your future starts here.
