SOCAL CO.
is building and expanding a commercial heavy equipment transportation and recovery operation in Southern California . We are seeking an experienced transportation professional who can work directly with ownership to help operate, develop, and grow the business. This is not a general freight, warehouse, parcel, or entry-level dispatch position. We are specifically seeking candidates with direct experience in heavy equipment transportation, lowboy/lowbed operations, construction equipment transportation, equipment rental transportation, specialized/heavy-haul trucking, or heavy-duty commercial towing/recovery. The right candidate should already understand this industry and be capable of bringing practical knowledge, judgment, relationships, and ideas into the operation. Responsibilities Dispatch and coordinate drivers, trucks, trailers, equipment moves, pickups, deliveries, and recovery calls. Evaluate transportation requests before accepting or quoting jobs. Determine appropriate truck/trailer configurations based on equipment type, weight, dimensions, capacity, and job requirements. Coordinate transportation of excavators, loaders, skid steers, backhoes, forklifts, construction machinery, commercial vehicles, and other equipment. Coordinate loading/unloading requirements, equipment securement, job-site access, scheduling, and customer expectations. Understand and coordinate applicable oversize/overweight permits, route restrictions, escorts, and regulatory requirements . Monitor driver availability, equipment utilization, deadhead, scheduling, and job profitability. Prepare and/or assist with transportation quotes and pricing. Communicate directly with contractors, equipment rental companies, dealers, commercial fleets, drivers, and other customers. Maintain DOT and motor-carrier compliance and coordinate driver/fleet documentation. Help establish practical dispatch procedures, operating systems, documentation, and accountability as the company grows. Develop new customer relationships and recurring commercial transportation accounts. Help keep company equipment utilized with profitable, recurring work . Work directly with ownership on operational priorities, growth opportunities, and significant customer or operational issues. Required Experience Candidates should have direct, hands-on experience in heavy equipment transportation or a closely related specialized transportation field.

Heavy-haul or equipment transport dispatcher Lowboy/lowbed driver or dispatcher Heavy equipment transport driver Equipment rental transportation/dispatch Construction trucking/equipment transportation Specialized transportation operations Heavy-duty commercial towing/recovery Strong candidates should understand several of the following: Lowboy/lowbed, flatbed, or specialized equipment trailers Class A truck/trailer combinations Equipment weights and dimensions GVWR, payload, and transportation capacity Loading and load securement Construction equipment and machinery Job-site pickup/delivery requirements Oversize/overweight permitting Route planning and restrictions DOT/motor-carrier compliance Driver dispatch and fleet coordination Transportation quoting and job profitability General freight, warehouse, parcel, LTL, or supply-chain experience alone does not meet the experience requirements for this position. develop relationships and recurring business with equipment rental companies, contractors, construction companies, equipment dealers, commercial fleets, trucking companies, and other organizations that regularly require outside transportation. Existing Southern California industry relationships and a demonstrated ability to develop new commercial accounts are highly valued. Compensation $30.00-$38.00 per hour , depending on directly relevant experience, technical knowledge, industry relationships, and demonstrated capabilities. In addition to base compensation, the position includes an uncapped 2% performance-based commission on qualifying collected revenue from new accounts personally originated by the employee during each account's first 12 months. Candidates who bring significant directly relevant experience, industry relationships, and demonstrated business-development capabilities may be considered toward the upper end of the compensation range. This is an opportunity for the right person to work directly with ownership and have meaningful input into dispatch, pricing, customer development, driver coordination, equipment utilization, compliance, operating procedures, and growth strategy. We are looking for someone who wants more than a routine dispatch position and is capable of helping build an operation.
Pay:
$30.00 - $38.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 - 45.0 per week
