Transportation Dispatcher The Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P) Transportation Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating and managing transportation services that support before-school, after-school, summer, and intersession programs. This role ensures safe, timely, and efficient student transportation while maintaining clear communication with drivers, program staff, school sites, and families.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Coordinate daily transportation schedules for ELO-P programs, including route planning and adjustments 2. Real-time dispatching of drivers, and monitoring and adjusting routes as needed to ensure on-time pick-up and drop-off of students 3. Serve as a primary point of contact for transportation-related communication between drivers, school sites, and program staff 4. Respond to real-time issues such as delays, route changes, or emergencies 5. Maintain accurate records of routes, ridership, driver logs, and incident reports 6. Ensure compliance with VCPS policies, safety regulations, and ELO-P program requirements 7. Communicate with parents/guardians regarding transportation schedules, changes, and concerns 8. Support coordination of drivers, including schedule assignments and updates 9. Collaborate with school administrators, Transportation Coordinator, and After School Coordinators to align transportation with program needs 10. Other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's degree preferred) Experience in transportation dispatching, logistics, or school operations preferred Bilingual in Spanish Strong organizational and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities Decision making under pressure Proficiency in basic computer systems and dispatching software (or ability to learn) Knowledge of local geography and school boundaries Ability to remain calm and make decisions under pressure Strong attention to detail
