Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and highly organized Dispatcher to join our transportation operations team. In this vital role, you will coordinate and manage the dispatching of vehicles, freight, and personnel to ensure seamless road transportation operations. Duties Coordinate vehicle dispatching by utilizing transportation management systems (TMS) and vehicle dispatch software to assign freight loads efficiently. Monitor GPS and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) data to track vehicle locations, optimize routes, and ensure timely deliveries. Communicate with drivers, clients, and internal teams via multi-line phone systems and internal communication channels to relay instructions, updates, and resolve issues promptly. Manage shipping & receiving schedules, ensuring compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and safety protocols. Maintain accurate data entry records related to freight movements, vehicle statuses, and delivery documentation using Microsoft Office tools and Oracle Transportation Management systems. Handle phone call management with professionalism, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette while addressing customer inquiries or dispatch requests. Support logistics planning by analyzing transportation data, identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements, and assisting in transportation planning initiatives. Requirements Proven experience in road transportation operations or logistics coordination; familiarity with supply chain processes is preferred. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, and Outlook; experience with transportation management systems like Oracle Transportation Management is highly desirable. Knowledge of vehicle dispatching procedures, fleet management practices, and freight shipping & receiving protocols. Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written—and the ability to manage multi-line phone systems confidently. Familiarity with GPS technology, GIS mapping tools, and transportation planning concepts. Ability to adhere strictly to DOT regulations while managing vehicle dispatching activities. Strong analysis skills for reviewing transportation data to improve operational efficiency. High level of attention to detail during data entry, documentation, and compliance checks.
