Dispatcher Job Description A dispatcher is responsible for using the latest routing software to establish daily trucking routes and maintain contact with drivers throughout the day. The successful candidate for this position needs to be able to adjust to last-minute changes, communicate with customers and drivers to record details about shipments, arrange pick-up times, and discuss any special handling issues. Dispatcher Responsibilities Coordinate delivery schedules based on truck capacity, cost-efficient routing, and loading/unloading time Build and maintain relationships and contact with drivers Schedule pick-up and delivery appointments Track loads Communicate and maintain relationships with customers Dispatcher Qualifications Dispatching and customer service experience.
