Job Description

Distribution System Dispatcher Position Summary We have a contract opportunity with our client in Fort Wayne for a Distribution System Dispatcher Associate. The distribution dispatcher is responsible for supporting the safe, reliable operation, dispatching, and restoration of electrical distribution facilities . This position monitors distribution system activity, tracks field crews, dispatches personnel during outages and emergencies, maintains accurate system records, and assists with the safe energization and restoration of distribution facilities. This is a safety-critical, onsite position requiring the ability to make timely decisions in a fast-paced environment, particularly during outages, emergencies, and other critical system conditions.
  • This is a 1 year contract with the potential to convert to a permanent position Key Responsibilities of the Distribution System Dispatcher Associate Promote and adhere to all company safety, health, operating, and compliance policies and procedures.
Monitor distribution system activity and track the location and status of field crews and ongoing work. Dispatch service personnel to outages, emergencies, and other distribution system events. Communicate effectively with field personnel using company communication systems and equipment. Authorize the energization and restoration of distribution facilities in accordance with established procedures. Maintain accurate and timely outage records. Document abnormal, damaged, or defective equipment affecting distribution facilities. Coordinate multiple field activities and priorities during normal operations and emergency conditions. Make time-sensitive decisions that support employee and public safety, system reliability, equipment protection, and continuity of customer service. Maintain a high level of accuracy and situational awareness while managing multiple activities simultaneously. Minimum Qualifications of the
Distribution System Dispatcher Associate:
Candidates must meet one of the following education/experience requirements: Associate degree in Electrical Technology, Electronic Technology, or a related discipline; or Bachelor of Science degree in any field; or An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Additional Requirements:
Must successfully complete the required online pre-employment assessment and receive a "recommended" result. Must be comfortable working under pressure during critical system conditions. Ability to manage multiple priorities and situations simultaneously. Strong communication, decision-making, documentation, and organizational skills. Must maintain high availability for call-out response. Due to call-out requirements, candidates must live within or be willing to relocate to within 30 minutes of the reporting location . Must be able and willing to work rotating days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, reserve shifts, and overtime as required. Position is classified as sedentary in physical demand. This position is 100% onsite . Rotating Shift Schedule The 2026 schedule operates on a 14-week rotating schedule and includes: 12-Hour Night Shift (12N): 6:00 PM
  • 6:00 AM 12-Hour Day Shift (12D/NRO): 6:00 AM
  • 6:00 PM 8-Hour Evening Shift (8 Eve): 2:00 PM
  • 10:00 PM Reserve 1: 7:00 AM
  • 5:00 PM, 10-hour day shift Reserve 2 /
On-Call:
Hours vary based on operational needs; overtime may be required Important Considerations This role supports the operation of critical electrical infrastructure. Decisions made by the Distribution System Dispatcher can directly affect personnel safety, public safety, system reliability, equipment, and customer service . Candidates should be comfortable working in an environment where accuracy, sound judgment, and the ability to remain focused during high-pressure situations are essential.
Pay:
From $25.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
