The City of Oak Grove is seeking a dependable and professional Part-Time Public Safety Dispatcher to join our team. This position is responsible for receiving emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatching appropriate public safety personnel, maintaining accurate records, and providing critical communication support to police, fire, and other emergency personnel. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and multitasking skills, remain calm under pressure, and be able to make sound decisions in a fast-paced public safety environment. Key Responsibilities Answer emergency and non-emergency calls promptly, professionally, and courteously. Gather accurate and complete information from callers and dispatch appropriate emergency personnel. Operate radio consoles, telephone systems, Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems, and other communications equipment. Monitor multiple radio frequencies and maintain awareness of the location and status of field units. Communicate and work collaboratively with police officers, firefighters, and other emergency personnel. Maintain detailed and accurate records of calls for service, dispatched units, and related activity. Perform data entry and access authorized state and national criminal justice information databases. Operate

terminals to conduct authorized inquiries, including vehicle registrations, driver's licenses, stolen vehicles/property, and wanted persons. Complete daily administrative duties, including record requests, background checks, and other assigned records-related responsibilities. Assist citizens and other visitors who walk into the Police Department. Perform other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Must be at least 18 years of age. Ability to type a minimum of 35 words per minute. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to multitask, remain calm, and make quick decisions during high-pressure situations. Ability and willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays, and additional shifts when needed. Ability to successfully complete an extensive background investigation, including a suitability screening, polygraph examination, and drug screening. Must be free of felony convictions. Must successfully complete all required training to become a certified Public Safety Telecommunicator within the first year of appointment. Must complete required annual in-service training in accordance with applicable requirements, including training through the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training (DOCJT). Previous public safety dispatch or related communications experience is preferred but not required. Preferred Qualifications Previous public safety dispatching or communications experience. Knowledge of local geography and emergency response procedures. Experience using CAD systems and radio communications equipment. Experience with NCIC/LINK or other law enforcement databases. Current CJIS certification. Work Schedule Part-Time - Approximately 26 Hours Per Week Approximately 2 days per week Primary shift: 1900-0800 (7:00 PM-8:00 AM) Night shift position with the ability to cover day shifts when needed. Weekend and holiday availability required as needed. Additional coverage may be requested based on staffing needs. Compensation Pay based on experience and applicable certifications $2.00/hour shift differential for hours worked between 2:00 PM and 6:00 AM Biannual step increases Annual Cost-of-Living Adjustments (COLA), as applicable
