Job Description

The Administrative & Dispatch for Animal Control plays a critical role in supporting field operations and serving the community. As the primary point of contact with the public, this position manages incoming calls, dispatches Animal Control Officers, and provides essential administrative support. This role ensures timely responses to animal-related incidents while maintaining accurate records and delivering professional, compassionate service. Key Responsibilities Manage incoming calls from the public, law enforcement, and partner agencies regarding animal concerns, complaints, and emergencies Triage calls and determine priority levels for response Dispatch Animal Control Officers using radio, phone, or computer-aided system Monitor officer status, location, and activity to support efficient field operations Provide real-time communication support to officers in the field Accurately enter and maintain data including calls, reports, and case records Maintain organized files, records, and documentation systems Prepare correspondence and other administrative documents Provide administrative and clerical support to officers and leadership staff Coordinate communication between Animal Control, law enforcement, veterinary providers, and the public Deliver professional and courteous customer service in potentially sensitive or high-stress situations Educate the public on local ordinances, procedures, and available resources Offering guidance on wildlife conflict prevention, humane deterrence, and coexistence strategies Assist with front office and customer service duties as needed Participate in training related to animal handling, ordinances, investigations, and field response Develop a working knowledge of animal behavior, safety protocols, and enforcement practices Qualifications Strong communication and customer service skills Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure Experience in dispatch, call-taking, or administrative support preferred Proficiency in Microsoft systems and data entry Ability to exercise sound judgment and prioritize effectively Interest in animal welfare, public safety, and community service
