Job Overview Bartels Truck Line Inc. is looking for a Dispatcher/Scheduling Clerk to join our team in Winthrop, MN. This position plays an important role in keeping our trucks, drivers, customers, and freight moving efficiently. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, comfortable communicating with people, and able to stay calm and make decisions when things don't go exactly as planned. Duties Answer incoming phone calls and direct calls as needed. Plan and schedule loads and routes efficiently. Assign loads to available trucks and drivers. Coordinate freight and schedules with drivers, shippers and customers. Serve as a primary communication link between drivers on the road, customers, and the office Monitor truck locations and delivery progress using GPS tracking systems. Track schedules and make adjustments as needed. Handle delays, breakdowns, weather issues, traffic problems, and appointment changes in real time. Communicate schedule changes and delays to customers and drivers promptly. Assist with load planning and data entry. Maintain accurate records and paperwork. Monitor driver hours and assist with ensuring operations remain within DOT and Hours of Service (HOS) requirements. Utilize transportation management software, load boards, GPS tracking, and other digital tools. Work with multiple priorities at once in a fast-paced environment. Skills Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to communicate clearly, calmly, and professionally with drivers, customers and coworkers. Strong organizational and multitasking skills. Ability to think quickly and solve problems as they arise. Comfortable working with computers and Microsoft Office. Ability to learn and use transportation management software, load boards, GPS tracking systems, and electronic logging tools. Basic understanding of trucking, freight, logistics, DOT regulations, weights, permits, and Hours of Service is preferred. Previous trucking, dispatching, scheduling, logistics, or transportation experience is preferred but not required. Reliable, dependable, and willing to be part of a team.
