Assist in all operational aspects of the dispatch group, including but not limited to; scheduling, data entry, customer service, compiling and auditing paperwork, preparing packets for billing, as well as interaction with field / management staff. This is an hourly staff position and will report to the EMS Dispatch management team. This position is for a 12 hour shift on Saturdays only, 7AM-7PM.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Provide professional and courteous service while receiving incoming calls from the public or other public safety entities requesting non-emergency transportation assistance Obtain necessary information to determine the appropriate response and priority. Dispatch appropriate units according to availability and location or provide appropriate information as required while monitoring the status of all field units. Maintain awareness of all field units' status and location and assist in coordinating the activities of all field units. Operate a variety of communications equipment, including telephones, computer aided dispatch systems and multiple computer programs/systems. Communicate with other public safety agencies, hospitals, support services and any other entity as needed to request or forward necessary information. Send, receive, enter, update, and disperse information by computer, telephone, cellular telephone, facsimile or other methods. Verify insurance coverage and other payor sources. Audit PCR's for completeness and accuracy. Collect, organize, audit, and compile paperwork for billing and training purposes.
Qualifications Experience:
One year experience interacting with the public. Previous dispatch experience is preferred but not required. Proficiency with computer applications such as Word, Excel, and mapping software. Proficient with typing and data entry. Ability to communicate professionally with internal and external customers.
