Second Shift Load Planner & Dispatcher Confidential Transportation Company | Burlington County, NJ Position Overview A growing transportation company is seeking an experienced Second Shift Load Planner & Dispatcher to build efficient routes, support CDL drivers, and keep freight moving through the afternoon and evening. This person will work closely with fellow planners and dispatchers to adjust plans in real time as customer needs, driver availability, appointments, and operating conditions change. The right candidate can balance thoughtful planning with quick decisions. They communicate clearly, support drivers, collaborate with the team, and take ownership of service commitments. Responsibilities Build and adjust routes and load plans based on customer requirements, delivery appointments, driver availability, equipment, and Hours of Service. Coordinate load assignments, pickups, deliveries, and schedule changes with drivers and other members of the dispatch team. Monitor active loads and driver progress throughout the shift. Identify potential delays early and revise plans to protect customer service. Serve as a reliable point of contact for assigned CDL drivers, helping resolve issues that arise on the road. Work collaboratively with other planners and dispatchers to manage changing priorities and maintain a clear handoff between shifts. Communicate shipment status, delays, and updated delivery expectations to customers and internal teams. Support driver performance through clear expectations, practical coaching, and professional accountability. Partner with Safety & Compliance to follow DOT requirements, Hours of Service rules, company procedures, and applicable Hazmat requirements. Keep load, route, and driver information accurate and current in company systems. Provide occasional support for weekend dispatch issues when they arise. Weekend coverage needs are rare and minimal. Qualifications 3+ years of experience in dispatch, load planning, fleet management, or transportation operations. Demonstrated ability to build routes and adjust load plans as conditions change. Experience communicating with and supporting CDL drivers. Working knowledge of DOT regulations and Hours of Service requirements. Strong judgment, organization, and communication skills in a fast moving environment. Ability to collaborate with peers while taking ownership of decisions and follow through. When the plan changes, this person works with the dispatch team to make sound adjustments quickly and carry them through to completion.

Schedule:

Second shift, with rare, minimal weekend dispatch support as issues arise. Specific shift hours will be provided during the hiring process.
