8am to 5:30pm Position Summary Fortune Logistics is seeking an organized, dependable, and highly responsive Truck Dispatcher to coordinate daily transportation operations. This position is responsible for assigning loads, scheduling pickups and deliveries, communicating with drivers and customers, tracking shipments, and resolving operational issues. The ideal candidate has experience in trucking, logistics, freight transportation, port operations, or local and regional delivery dispatching. Key Responsibilities Plan and assign daily loads, routes, pickups, and deliveries to drivers. Coordinate local, regional, port, warehouse, and customer delivery operations. Provide drivers with accurate pickup and delivery addresses, appointment times, load details, reference numbers, and customer instructions. Track trucks, drivers, containers, trailers, and shipments throughout the day. Monitor delivery progress and ensure all appointments are completed on time. Communicate regularly with drivers, customers, brokers, warehouses, ports, rail terminals, and internal teams. Schedule and confirm pickup, delivery, warehouse, port, and terminal appointments. Respond quickly to traffic delays, driver call-outs, vehicle breakdowns, rejected deliveries, damaged freight, and scheduling changes. Reassign loads and adjust routes when operational issues arise. Collect and verify bills of lading, proof of delivery, interchange receipts, delivery orders, and other transportation documents. Update dispatch systems, spreadsheets, and customer records accurately. Monitor driver hours and assist with compliance with Hours-of-Service and ELD requirements. Follow up on missing documents, incomplete deliveries, detention, layover, tolls, parking, and other transportation charges. Provide customers and management with timely shipment status updates. Report accidents, cargo damage, driver violations, and major service issues immediately. Maintain professional communication and provide strong customer service. Assist with additional transportation and administrative duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Previous experience in truck dispatching, logistics coordination, freight operations, or transportation customer service. Strong shipment-tracking, follow-up, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple drivers, loads, appointments, and deadlines simultaneously. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong attention to detail and accurate data-entry skills. Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, GPS applications, and dispatch or transportation management systems. Ability to communicate professionally with drivers, customers, brokers, and warehouse personnel. Dependable, organized, responsive, and able to work independently. Preferred Qualifications Experience dispatching CDL Class A drivers, box trucks, port drivers, or regional delivery drivers. Knowledge of port, rail, container, drayage, or intermodal transportation. Familiarity with DOT regulations, ELD systems, and Hours-of-Service requirements. Knowledge of New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and surrounding regional routes. Experience working with brokers, freight forwarders, warehouses, and distribution centers. Bilingual English and Chinese or Spanish is preferred. Work Expectations Must be available during scheduled dispatch hours and respond promptly to operational issues. Occasional overtime, early-morning, evening, or weekend work may be required. Must maintain accurate records and protect confidential customer and company information. Must follow company safety policies, communication procedures, and escalation requirements.
Pay:
$25.00 - $30.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 - 50.0 per week
