About the
Role:
The Communication Center at the U.R. Department of Public Safety is looking for experienced dispatchers to boost our emergency response and monitoring efforts. If you're ready to make a difference and thrive in a fast-paced environment, this role is for you! This is a union position.
  • Competitive s hift differential offered for Evenings/Overnight shifts on top of base rate
What You'll Do:
Answer calls from University officers, staff, students and the public Use dispatch software and manage alarm/surveillance systems Coordinate communication between University Officers and local law enforcement/911. Monitor CCTV cameras and handle fire/burglary alarms
Who We're Looking For:
Someone who excels in high-pressure situations and is great at multitasking Experience with dispatching A person with strong critical thinking skills and a passion for helping others Prior experience with dispatch systems, ex: CAD Ability to stay calm and composed during emergencies
What You Need:
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Required Must possess a current valid and clean NYS Driver's License
  • no suspensions/major infractions within 3 yrs
  • Required Experience in Dispatching, Emergency Response or First Responder roles
  • Preferred Excellent communication and multitasking skills Ability to make quick decisions and work well in a team Fast and accurate keyboard data entry skills
Schedule:
Flexible hours needed due to 24/7 operations-Dispatchers must maintain flexible schedules to accommodate operational requirements. Flexibility to work any shift(s) assigned , including weekends and holidays. Once trained, a permanent shift will be assigned and schedule will rotate (ex: 4 shifts on , 2 off ) Will be assigned to Evening or Overnight shift Shift differential offered for Evenings/Overnight shifts on top of base rate•
