Job Description

Bison Transport is looking to add a qualified Dispatcher to our Amherst, WI team Continental Schedule - Thursday through Saturday 6:00 am - 6:00 pm every week, rotating Wednesday every other week. 4 on and 3 off, 3 on and 4 off. Summary The Dispatcher will execute the day-to-day activity of their assigned driver fleet of 40+ drivers. This includes monitoring of the fleet, accurately distributing, receiving and updating information. The dispatcher is responsible for identifying and participating in the resolution of issues relating to day-to-day activity of the driver. The dispatcher must be well organized, an excellent communicator and have a keen sense of timeliness in carrying out daily activities
Responsibilities Dispatch:
This involves the transmitting and receiving of all information relevant to the driver performing his/her duties within the company and customer requirements: Read and manage all messages as they pertain to the driver, equipment, and loads Detail pick-up and delivery instructions Provide customer specific information as required Track, plan, and manage home time events Ensure the system reflects an accurate portrayal of events and times Immediately address all scheduling conflicts or issues as they arise Provide driver routing as required Ensure day-to-day activity of fleet is confirmed and completed by end of day Validate the drivers know how to complete trips to meet service requirements Maintain accurate ETA/PTA and confirm ETA of relays and FCFS Enter accurate late coding as necessary Monitor and alert CSR of possible detention Satellite and Telephone Management Be the driver's first point of contact and act on his/her needs. This involves the handling of all driver related satellite messages or calls within assigned and overflow queues Effectively manage and respond to satellite messages or answer the phone queues Instruct drivers on proper satellite and telephone procedures Effectively relay information via satellite in a cost-effective manner Reporting Record, communicate, and document all situations that should be reviewed by other parties, for information, action, and record keeping purposes Report and document all customer service, planning, and driver-related issues to the appropriate personnel Problem Resolution Work on behalf of both the driver and the company to resolve any day-to-day issues that may arise Planning/Customer Service issues Pay/Payroll Issues Driver issues regarding day-to-day activities Requirements Proven experience in dispatching or logistics within the transportation industry. Strong communication skills for effective interaction with drivers and customers. Familiarity with fleet management systems and GPS technology. Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions quickly under pressure. Experience with Oracle Transportation Management or similar software is a plus.
