Responsibilities Coordinate and dispatch vehicles using transportation management systems and vehicle dispatch software to ensure timely delivery of freight and shipments. Communicate clearly with drivers, carriers, customers, and internal teams via multi-line phone systems and phone call management tools to relay instructions, updates, and resolve issues promptly. Monitor GPS and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) data to track vehicle locations, optimize routes, and improve overall transportation planning. Maintain accurate records of shipments, deliveries, driver logs, and dispatch activities through data entry into Oracle Transportation Management or similar systems. Ensure compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations by managing documentation, hours of service logs, and safety protocols. Collaborate with logistics teams to coordinate shipping & receiving schedules, fleet management tasks, and third-party logistics (3PL) providers for smooth operations. Handle customer inquiries professionally via phone communication, providing updates on freight status or resolving delivery issues while demonstrating excellent phone etiquette. Support internal communication efforts by sharing relevant information across departments to streamline supply chain processes. Assist in analyzing transportation data to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost savings within road transportation operations. Experience Proven experience in dispatching within a logistics or transportation environment is preferred. Familiarity with transportation planning tools such as transportation management systems (TMS), vehicle dispatch software, or fleet management platforms is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of road transportation operations, shipping & receiving procedures, and freight handling processes. Experience working with GPS devices, GIS applications, and data entry tools like Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel). Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced setting. Demonstrated communication skills—both verbal and written—with a focus on professionalism via multi-line phones or phone call management systems. Understanding of DOT regulations related to hours of service, safety standards, and compliance requirements is advantageous.
