Job Description

Position Summary We are seeking a dependable, organized, and customer-focused Day Shift Dispatcher to join our transportation team. The ideal candidate will coordinate daily truck movements, communicate with drivers and customers, monitor delivery schedules, and ensure efficient operations while maintaining a high level of customer service. This role requires excellent multitasking skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and strong problem-solving abilities. Key Responsibilities Dispatch drivers and assign loads based on customer needs, driver availability, and equipment capacity. Monitor driver progress and maintain continuous communication throughout the day. Coordinate pickup and delivery schedules to ensure on-time service. Communicate with customers regarding shipment status, delays, and scheduling changes. Enter and update load information in the Transportation Management System (TMS). Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and Hours of Service (HOS) requirements. Work closely with drivers, warehouse personnel, and management to resolve operational issues. Track equipment utilization and report maintenance concerns. Maintain accurate dispatch records and daily reports. Respond quickly to unexpected route changes, breakdowns, or customer requests. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; transportation or logistics experience preferred. Previous dispatch, logistics, or trucking industry experience is highly preferred. Knowledge of DOT regulations and Hours of Service is a plus. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and transportation management software. Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities. Professional attitude with a commitment to customer service. Preferred Skills Experience with GPS tracking systems and ELD platforms. Knowledge of freight scheduling and routing.
