Job Description
Overview The 911/311 Dispatcher serves as a vital link between the public and emergency and community services. This position is responsible for answering 911 emergency and 311 non-emergency calls, gathering information, dispatching appropriate resources, and processing requests for municipal services. Dispatchers must remain calm under pressure, communicate effectively, and accurately prioritize and document calls in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Answer and process 911 emergency and 311 non-emergency calls. Obtain accurate information and determine the appropriate response. Dispatch law enforcement, fire, EMS, and other services as needed. Process 311 service requests for issues such as potholes, missed trash collection, water leaks, and other municipal concerns. Operate CAD, radio, telephone, and other communications systems. Monitor radio traffic and maintain communication with field personnel. Accurately document calls, incidents, and service requests. Prioritize and manage multiple calls and incidents in a fast-paced environment. Communicate professionally with the public, emergency responders, and other agencies. Maintain confidentiality and follow established policies, procedures, and protocols. Remain calm and exercise sound judgment during stressful and emergency situations. Ability to work as a team. Qualifications Have a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent Not have been convicted of or pleaded guilty to any felony charge or to any violation of any federal or state laws or city ordinances relating to force, violence, theft, dishonesty, gambling, liquor or controlled substances Must be 18 years of age and a citizen of the United States Meet the minimum standards on all test and evaluations Not have been discharged from military service with less than an honorable or medical discharge You can also view our application at https://dyersburgtn.form.transform.civicplus.com/57503
