Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic logistics team as a Freight Dispatcher, where you'll be the vital link ensuring smooth and efficient transportation operations. In this energetic role, you'll coordinate freight movements, manage vehicle dispatching, and communicate seamlessly with drivers, clients, and internal teams. Your expertise will help optimize supply chain processes, uphold safety standards, and deliver exceptional customer service. Responsibilities Coordinate and schedule freight shipments using transportation management systems such as DAT. Communicate effectively via multi-line phone systems and internal communication channels to assign loads, provide updates, and resolve issues promptly. Monitor GPS and GIS data to track vehicle locations, optimize routes, and ensure timely deliveries in compliance with DOT regulations. Manage shipping & receiving documentation accurately through data entry and maintain detailed logs for inbound and outbound freight. Collaborate with drivers, carriers (including 3PL providers), and warehouse teams to ensure seamless road transportation operations. Handle customer inquiries with professionalism using phone etiquette, providing real-time updates on freight status and resolving service concerns efficiently. Maintain organized records of dispatch activities, vehicle maintenance schedules, and fleet management data to support logistics efficiency. Experience Proven experience in dispatching within a supply chain or transportation planning environment. Familiarity with transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or similar platforms like SyteLine. Knowledge of road transportation operations, fleet management, shipping & receiving procedures, and DOT regulations. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask across multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail. Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written—and proficiency in phone call management and analysis skills. Experience working with vehicle dispatch software, logistics coordination tools, and data entry applications such as Microsoft Office suite. Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment while adhering to safety standards and internal communication protocols.
