Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic transportation team as a Dispatcher, where you'll be the vital link ensuring smooth and efficient road transportation operations. In this energetic role, you'll coordinate freight movements, manage vehicle dispatching, and communicate seamlessly with drivers, clients, and internal teams. Your organizational prowess and communication skills will drive the success of our logistics operations, ensuring timely deliveries and exceptional customer service. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your expertise in transportation management systems and supply chain coordination while contributing to a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Responsibilities Coordinate and schedule freight pickups and deliveries using vehicle dispatch software and transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management. Communicate effectively via multi-line phone systems, internal communication channels, and phone call management to relay instructions and updates to drivers, clients, and vendors. Monitor GPS and GIS data to track vehicle locations, optimize routes, and ensure compliance with DOT regulations. Manage shipping & receiving schedules, ensuring accurate data entry into logistics databases and maintaining detailed records of dispatch activities. Oversee fleet management tasks including vehicle allocation, maintenance scheduling, and adherence to road transportation operations standards. Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries promptly, managing freight-related concerns, and maintaining professional phone etiquette. Analyze transportation data to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements within supply chain processes and logistics workflows. Qualifications Proven experience with transportation planning, dispatching, or logistics coordination in a fast-paced environment. Strong knowledge of transportation management systems (TMS), vehicle dispatch software, and logistics principles including freight handling and fleet management. Familiarity with
GIS, GPS
technology, DOT regulations, shipping & receiving procedures, and 3PL (third-party logistics) operations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) for data entry, analysis, and reporting purposes. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently across multi-line phone systems while maintaining attention to detail. Effective communication skills—both verbal and written—to facilitate internal communication and customer interactions. Ability to analyze logistical data for process improvements while adhering to safety standards such as DOT regulations.
