Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Bilingual Scale Operator/Dispatcher to join our logistics team. In this vital role, you will oversee the accurate weighing and measurement of freight, coordinate transportation schedules, and ensure seamless dispatching of vehicles. Your proactive communication skills and organizational expertise will drive efficient road transportation operations, support supply chain processes, and enhance customer service experiences. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be at the heart of logistics management, ensuring freight moves smoothly from origin to destination while adhering to DOT regulations and safety standards. Responsibilities Operate vehicle scales to accurately weigh and measure freight, ensuring compliance with safety and weight regulations. Dispatch trucks efficiently using vehicle dispatch software and transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and AS400. Coordinate with drivers, carriers, and internal teams via multi-line phone systems, phone call management, and internal communication channels to schedule pickups and deliveries. Monitor GPS and GIS data to track vehicle locations, optimize routes, and improve transportation planning. Manage shipping & receiving documentation, data entry, and freight tracking within logistics platforms like SyteLine and transportation management systems. Ensure adherence to DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations by maintaining proper documentation and conducting routine compliance checks. Communicate professionally with customers, drivers, and vendors through phone etiquette, providing timely updates on freight status or issues that arise during transit. Support supply chain activities by analyzing transportation data for efficiency improvements and assisting in fleet management tasks. Skills Strong knowledge of
GIS, GPS
technology, and transportation planning principles. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) for reporting and data entry tasks. Experience with road transportation operations, dispatching procedures, and vehicle fleet management. Familiarity with transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management, SyteLine, and AS400. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask across multiple lines of communication simultaneously. Effective communication skills for internal coordination, customer service interactions, and phone call management. Analysis skills to interpret logistics data for process improvements; attention to detail is essential. Knowledge of shipping & receiving procedures along with freight handling best practices within a 3PL environment. Understanding of DOT regulations governing vehicle weights, safety standards, and driver compliance requirements.
