DISPATCHER PUPIL TRANSPORTATION CENTER 8.0

hours per day 260 Days per Year $28.09/hr O DESCRIPTIONThe job of Dispatcher is to plan trips, route school buses for daily operations, schedule sub- drivers for routes, trip billing and reporting, dispatching over radio, reporting of students to state for OSPI and other duties.

• Ability to operate a school bus or van in a safe manner and provide backup in emergencies or when other drivers are not available.
• Ability to learn and use various software suites including routing, shop management, trip management, payroll, Microsoft Office, and others.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School diploma or GED equivalent
• Experience with school district transportation routes and operating procedures, minimum of three years driving experience in a school bus preferred

EXTENSIVE

Experience working with computer programs like Excel and Word and Outlook.

LICENCES, CERTICATES & SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

• Possess a valid Washington State Driver's License and CDL Class B license with endorsement for school buses.
• Maintain Washington State School Bus Driver Certification.
• Current First-Aid Card
• Valid Medical Examiner's Certificate (CDL).

. Maintain clean Drug and Alcohol DOT Clearinghouse records

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Check to make sure all bus routes and extra trips are covered each day.

Contact substitute drivers when needed. Use of District software to update route cards, stops, and students information. Help to adjust routes to meet the needs of students with IEP's, MKV students, Foster students, etc. Address safety concerns about routes, drivers and vehicles and report them to the transportation supervisor. Assigning properly equipped buses based on student load and special needs. In an emergency situation will help contact appropriate agencies and arrange for emergency or backup transportation. Able to communicate with shop personnel regarding equipment damage and breakdowns. Create routes for daily to and from school buses. Maintain routes and students assigned to routes. Assist with student tracking for reporting purposes. Assist with STARS reporting during the school year. Take trip requests and plan trips accordingly. Schedule drivers for trips not bid on, communicate with other departments to set up trips, put together trip packets for drivers of trips (including cards, phones, paperwork, bags, etc). Maintaining a working Billing of trips to inter-department and out of district invoicing. Reporting and record keeping of all trips for District billing. Answer phone calls from schools and parents. View bus video when necessary. Use software to blur and save video to send out to other departments. Drive school bus with students on route when necessary. Maintain trainings aligned with District requirements.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSCIAL REQUIREMENTS

• Able to work 5 days a week annually.

Ability to sit for prolonged periods. May be confined to work station during peak periods. Exposed to high noise levels from the two-way radio. Take scheduled breaks during nonpeak dispatching times. Able to multitask when needed. Fast paced work environment including frequent interruptions. Office and road environment; requires visual concentration and precision exposed to road and traffic hazards. Must be punctual and steady in attendance. Winter may require driving snowy and icy roads to determine safety for buses. Use of phone, computer and radio for most of the workday. Good interpersonal skills. Must deal with Many different personalities. Great interpersonal communication skills. Working time will include as early as 5:30 am to 5:00 pm as needed . Reporting Relationship  Reports to the Director of Transportation.
