Job Description

Duties As an Emergency Management Specialist, at the full performance level, you will perform the following duties: Develop and implement emergency management standards, regulations, practices, training, and procedures to minimize or eliminate all-hazards and threats. Understand the Reconstitution and Devolution plans, policies, and procedures. Manage components of emergency management program(s) and activities during a response, including Emergency Operation Center activation and operations. Comply with and following emergency management directives, regulations, policies, standards, and guidance (e.g., Presidential Policy Directive -8, Homeland Security Presidential Directive - 20, Federal Continuity Directive 1&2, National Incident Management System, National Response Framework, National Disaster Recovery Framework, National Security Communications Directive 3-10). Probationary Period:
This is a full-time permanent position (Career/Career-Conditional appointment). Upon appointment to this position, you may be required to serve a one-year probationary period. Required to deploy during emergencies. Required to work 12-hour shifts when deployed, during the activation of the Crisis Action Team or Emergency Relocation Group, or when required during an emergency as determined by management. Travel will be required up to 25% of the time. Irregular hours and shift work may be required for emergencies. Must obtain or possess a Top Secret security clearance with an SCI endorsement. Experience :
One (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as: Organizing the needed and available resources (e.g., technical expertise, equipment, infrastructure) and capacities, as well as future resources, to support emergency activities; Providing technical advice on preparedness and response activities to eliminate, or mitigate damages associated with natural and man-made disasters; and Providing emergency response and preparedness training, exercises, and assistance. You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess the following:
Experience :
One (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-13 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as: Represent the agency regarding emergency management issues, operations, plans, policies, and procedures; and Interface with other agency components and inter-agency partners regarding emergency management issues, operations, plans, policies, and procedures.
