Job Description

May 28, 2026 Haskell County Kansas is accepting applications for a full time Director of Emergency Medical Services and Emergency Management. This is a full-time salary position requiring no other outside employment and the successful applicant must live in Haskell County or be willing to relocate upon being hired. Salary range is from $70,000-$100,000 depending on experience. Haskell County is an equal opportunity employer offering competitive pay and benefits including full family health insurance and retirement (KPERS or KPF). This position is under the supervision of the Haskell County Commissioners. The Director is responsible for supervising the daily operations of the department, performing administrative duties, and is responsible for the coordination and supervision of EMS technicians within a department consisting of both paid and volunteer technicians. The Director ensures compliance with Kansas Board of EMS republic relation skills. regulations, policies and procedures. Candidates must have a current Kansas EMS Certification and have three to five years of similar or related experience in the EMS field. Emergency Management requires excellent decision-making skills, strong communication, and problem-solving skills. Applicants must be familiar with the Incident Command Systems (ICS). The Emergency Manager must be able to coordinate among multiple agencies, manage resources and communicate effectively with the public during high stress situations. Building strong relationships with local partners and regular training is also required.
