Job Description

Job Summary Bethlehem Emergency Sheltering provides seasonal shelter, dinner, and social services to unhoused persons from November 1 through April 30. During the season, the Shelter Manager, under the direction of the Executive Director of Bethlehem Emergency Sheltering, Inc. (BES), oversees the safety, security, and activities of the guests, staff and volunteers of the shelter site (the Shelter). The Shelter Manager directly supervises the activities of the Shelter Monitors, enforces the policies and rules established by BES, and provides a familiar and regular presence at the shelter in support of staff, volunteers, and guests. This position requires strong leadership skills, crisis intervention capabilities, and interpersonal skills for managing individuals facing various challenges. Duties On-boarding of new Shelter Monitors. Oversee Shelter Monitor training, training reviews, and training compliance. Scheduling of Shelter Monitors. Conduct Monitor performance reviews. Assure the Shelter Monitors complete guest registration in accordance with BES policies. Prepare and audit shelter operations reports. Responsible for reviewing and possible discharge of guests from shelter. In the event of an overnight emergency, the Shelter Manager must immediately go to the shelter to oversee the emergency and must notify the Executive Directory and other emergency response authorities as necessary. Attend BES meetings as invited. Job Requirements Strong verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills a must i.e. Microsoft office. Must be able to actively walk and climb stairs frequently, and on occasion lift 40 lbs. Must demonstrate evidence of interpersonal skills. Previous supervisory experience preferred. Ability to make decisions in a stressful environment. Must be able to pass a State, FBI, and child abuse background check.
Pay:
$20.00 per hour People with a criminal record are encouraged to apply Shift availability: Night Shift (Preferred)
