Assist the Public Safety Director and Emergency Management Coordinator in planning and training programs through the following: Educate municipal elected officials and their emergency management coordinators on the municipal planning process. Incorporate homeland security, incident command and other key elements into the county and municipal planning process. simplify and consolidate the emergency planning process within all the municipalities. Foster the preparation of an Intergovernmental Cooperation Agreement between the county and its municipalities whereby the municipalities will adopt the county's emergency plan as their own for emergency planning and response purposes. Facilitate an outreach program between the county and its VOAD and other volunteer service organizations to better coordinate training resources and response purposes. Work with businesses in planning initiatives to include Homeland Security. Assist schools in producing/updating emergency plans. Provide follow up to incident s to reduce environmental impact. Act as the Hazardous Materials Officer for the county. Handle high hazard dam and SARA facilities planning. Prepare and set up quarterly training for the County EMA staff and all local EMA coordinators. Maintain training records for all local coordinators. Assemble volunteer staff for emergency operations center. Assist in updating and maintaining county resources , information and relaying to appropriate agencies. Position will require EMA certification and Emergency Program Manager certification.
