Job Description

Facilities Specialist Position Overview We are seeking a capable, hands-on Facilities Specialist to help maintain, repair, and improve our company facilities while supporting the day-to-day operational needs of multiple departments. This is much more than a traditional maintenance role. The Facilities Specialist serves as a trusted resource across the organization and is responsible for identifying facility needs, solving problems, coordinating repairs and contractors, managing preventative maintenance, maintaining tools and supplies, supporting safety initiatives, and ensuring projects are completed effectively. The ideal candidate is self-sufficient, highly organized, resourceful, and comfortable taking ownership from problem identification through final resolution . We are looking for someone who does not need constant direction—someone who can assess an issue, determine the appropriate next steps, communicate clearly with those affected, and follow through until the work is complete. Because this position supports employees and managers throughout the company, a strong service mindset and professional communication skills are equally important. Success in this role depends on building trust, setting realistic expectations, keeping others informed, and effectively managing diverse personalities and changing priorities. The Facilities Specialist performs all work in accordance with company policies, State of Alaska cannabis regulations, and applicable compliance standards. This position also serves as a facilities resource during regulatory inspections. What You'll Do Perform general repairs and maintenance to keep company facilities safe, secure, clean, functional, and professional. Diagnose facility and equipment issues, determine appropriate solutions, and independently complete repairs within your scope of knowledge and ability. Proactively identify problems before they become emergencies and recommend practical solutions or preventative measures. Coordinate preventative maintenance schedules and assist departments with facility and building-equipment upkeep. Monitor facility cleanliness and work collaboratively with department managers to maintain company standards. Coordinate third-party contractors and service providers, including scheduling work, communicating expectations, monitoring project quality, and confirming completion. Maintain productive working relationships with vendors, contractors, managers, and employees. Assist in developing and implementing procedures and initiatives related to facility maintenance, safety, security, construction, and emergency preparedness. Maintain facility security systems and assist with security-related procedures and projects. Support company safety programs through routine inspections, training coordination, compliance activities, and collaboration with department managers. Manage company tools and equipment, including organization, maintenance, cleanliness, chain of custody, and accountability. Receive, verify, organize, and distribute operational supplies and product packaging in accordance with purchasing and accounting procedures. Maintain accurate maintenance records, schedules, inventories, documentation, and project updates. Manage multiple ongoing priorities and special projects while ensuring timely and effective follow-through. Support departments during regulatory inspections as the company's facilities subject matter resource. What We're Looking For Above all, we are looking for someone who brings three key strengths to this role: Self-Sufficient Problem Solving You are comfortable working independently and do not need constant direction. When something breaks or a problem arises, you can assess the situation, troubleshoot the issue, determine the appropriate solution, and take action. You know when a repair is within your abilities and when specialized or licensed assistance is required. Organization, Ownership & Follow-Through This role involves far more than completing repairs. You will balance preventative maintenance, contractor coordination, tool accountability, supplies, safety initiatives, documentation, inspections, and special projects. You are organized, dependable, and take personal ownership of your responsibilities from beginning to end. Service Mindset & Communication Although this is not a customer-facing position, the Facilities Specialist supports every department within the company. You communicate professionally, build positive working relationships, keep people updated, manage expectations effectively, and remain approachable when navigating different personalities and shifting priorities. Experience coordinating or working alongside third-party contractors or service providers. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Professionalism when interacting with employees, managers, vendors, contractors, and regulatory personnel. Ability to read, understand, and follow SOPs, preventative maintenance schedules, safety requirements, and company procedures.
