Schedule & Availability Typically scheduled between business hours (8a-5p, Monday-Friday).
Flexibility for additional hours during:
Severe weather (snow, storms, etc.) Scheduled maintenance or renovation projects Community events or large organizational gatherings Occasional weekend or evening shifts will be required. Position Summary The Facilities Support Specialist is a team member responsible for maintaining the safety, functionality, and cleanliness of REACH's facilities. This position blends maintenance responsibilities with light custodial and repair tasks. It requires basic handyman skills, attention to detail, and the ability to identify and address maintenance needs proactively. Additional hours may be required during seasonal peaks, severe weather, or large-scale events. Primary Responsibilities Conduct routine inspections of facilities to identify and resolve minor issues before they escalate. Perform building maintenance and repairs such as: Replacing light fixtures and ballasts Unclogging drains or repairing basic plumbing fixtures Patching drywall or repainting surfaces Adjusting door hinges, locks, and handles Troubleshooting basic electrical, plumbing, or HVAC issues Diagnose and address malfunctioning appliances or equipment, coordinate with vendors for larger repairs when necessary. Assist with seasonal facility upkeep including snow removal, sidewalk salting, and grounds maintenance. Maintain and repair basic furnishings, shelving, and storage solutions across REACH locations. Move furniture or equipment as needed for events, reconfigurations, or deliveries. Document and report facility issues and completed repairs to the Facilities Manager in a timely and organized manner. Some general custodial tasks including cleaning restrooms, kitchens, floors, windows, and common spaces. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Basic knowledge of building systems, tools, and repair techniques. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve minor appliance, plumbing, or electrical issues independently. Familiarity with safe use of ladders, power tools, and maintenance equipment. Clear communication skills and willingness to work collaboratively with a variety of departments. Strong organization, documentation, and time management skills. Detail oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Effective problem-solving skills.
Position Requirements:
At least 18 years of age. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Two (2) years of experience in facilities, building maintenance, or handyman services preferred. Five (5) years of verifiable driving history, possess a current Alaska Driver's License and able to provide Agency with proof of current Auto Insurance Coverage and successful State Motor Vehicle Driver's History Report .

Ability to lift 50+ lbs, use hand tools, and perform tasks that require bending, climbing, or extended standing.
Working Conditions:
Work will be both indoors and outdoors, with exposure to varying weather conditions. Physical tasks such as lifting, bending, climbing, and using maintenance tools are regular parts of the job. May involve working with or around potentially noisy or hazardous materials (with appropriate PPE provided).
