Boarding Facility Manager — Full-Time Cantrell Animal Clinic | Little Rock, Arkansas Cantrell Animal Clinic is looking for a dependable, organized, animal-loving person to manage our boarding facility and help us reopen this service for our clients. We have offered boarding for many years, but temporarily closed our boarding facility last year after having difficulty finding the right person to run it. We are ready to bring boarding back, but we want to do it the right way. We are looking for someone who can take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the facility and help us build a boarding program that is clean, safe, organized, and provides excellent care for our patients. This is a full-time, hands-on position . The Boarding Facility Manager will be directly involved in caring for boarded pets while also managing the organization and daily operation of the boarding department. Because animals require care seven days a week, weekend and holiday availability is required. Regular days off will be Tuesday and Wednesday each week. What you'll be responsible for Boarding Operations & Animal Care Oversee the daily operation of the boarding facility. Manage boarding check-ins and check-outs and make sure all feeding, medication, behavioral, and special-care instructions are clearly documented. Provide daily care for boarded dogs and cats, including feeding, watering, walking, exercising, cleaning, and administering medications as directed. Monitor every boarding patient for changes in appetite, behavior, stool, urination, comfort, or overall health. Recognize signs of illness, injury, stress, or other concerns and promptly communicate those concerns to our veterinary team. Coordinate veterinary examinations or treatments for boarding patients when needed. Ensure boarding patients who are scheduled for veterinary services during their stay are seen by the appropriate doctor or veterinary team member. Verify that required vaccinations and medical records are current prior to boarding. Maintain accurate records regarding feeding, medications, treatments, elimination, behavior, and other relevant observations. Follow special instructions for senior pets, pets receiving medications, pets with medical conditions, and pets requiring additional monitoring. Safely handle dogs and cats of different sizes, breeds, temperaments, and activity levels. Communicate with pet owners regarding special instructions, concerns, and updates when appropriate. Cleanliness, Safety & Organization Maintain a consistently clean, sanitary, odor-controlled, and organized boarding facility. Clean and disinfect kennels, cages, runs, bowls, litter boxes, floors, common areas, and outdoor areas according to established protocols. Follow appropriate sanitation and infection-control procedures to reduce the risk of infectious disease. Maintain clean bedding, dishes, food preparation areas, and animal-care equipment. Complete regular walkthroughs of the boarding facility to identify safety, cleanliness, maintenance, or animal-care concerns. Keep boarding supplies organized and notify management when food, cleaning products, bedding, or other supplies need to be ordered. Make sure pets are housed appropriately and securely and that doors, gates, kennels, and outdoor areas remain safe. Growing the boarding program We are reopening our boarding facility with the goal of growing it over time. Initially, this position will be very hands-on and may operate largely independently depending on the number of pets boarding. As the boarding program grows, the Boarding Facility Manager will have the opportunity to take on additional leadership responsibilities, including: Helping train and oversee additional boarding staff. Creating staff schedules and ensuring appropriate coverage. Assigning responsibilities and making sure daily tasks are completed. Helping establish and improve boarding procedures and protocols. Maintaining consistent standards for animal care, cleanliness, safety, and client communication. Working with practice management to identify ways to improve and grow the boarding service. We want someone who will take pride in the boarding facility and treat its day-to-day success as their responsibility. When boarding is quiet The number of boarding patients naturally varies throughout the year. When boarding duties do not require your full attention, you will remain part of the larger Cantrell Animal Clinic team. During slower boarding periods, responsibilities may include: Washing, drying, folding, and putting away hospital laundry. Washing dishes and maintaining clean animal-care areas. Sweeping, mopping, and helping maintain the overall cleanliness of the hospital. Assisting veterinary assistants with appropriate tasks and patient handling. Helping with general hospital organization and other duties as needed. This is very much a team position . We are looking for someone who is willing to step in and help where needed rather than someone who considers themselves responsible only for the boarding area. Who we're looking for The right person for this position will be: Extremely dependable and punctual. Comfortable working independently and taking responsibility for an area of the hospital. Organized and attentive to details. Observant and able to recognize changes in an animal's health or behavior. Comfortable handling dogs and cats of different sizes and temperaments. Able to follow written and verbal instructions carefully, particularly medication and feeding instructions. Comfortable communicating professionally with clients and veterinary staff. Willing to clean. Boarding is rewarding work, but it involves a significant amount of cleaning, laundry, dishes, and hands-on animal care. Able to prioritize multiple responsibilities and stay organized during busy boarding periods. Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Physically able to stand and walk for extended periods, bend, kneel, and safely lift approximately 40-50 pounds. Available to work weekends and holidays. Previous professional animal-care experience in a veterinary hospital, boarding facility, kennel, dog daycare, grooming facility, shelter, or similar environment is preferred. Previous supervisory or management experience is also preferred, but we are willing to consider someone without formal management experience who has strong animal-care experience, excellent judgment, and the ability to take ownership of the position.

Schedule Full-time Regular days off:

Tuesday and Wednesday Weekend and holiday availability is required. Applicants should understand that weekends and holidays are some of the busiest times for boarding and are an essential part of this position. Compensation $15-$18/hour, depending on experience. There is opportunity for increased responsibility as our boarding program grows.
