$72K - $77K annual We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Executive Steward to oversee all back-of-house (BOH) operations and facility maintenance for our upscale restaurant in Los Angeles. The Executive Steward will lead the stewarding team, ensure efficient kitchen support operations, maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and organization, and manage equipment upkeep and supplies. This role works closely with the General Manager and Senior Manager of Corporate Facilities to support daily restaurant operations.RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead, train, schedule all porter/dishwashing staff.
- Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen areas, equipment, tableware, and surfaces in compliance with local health and safety regulations.
- Coordinate and oversee daily BOH workflows to support culinary and service operations, ensuring all equipment and supplies are in place.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance programs (e.g., hood cleaning, refrigeration service).
- Communicate and coordinate with contractors and vendors for maintenance projects and repair issues.
- Oversee inventory and procurement of cleaning supplies, chemicals, small wares and disposables, ensuring optimal stock levels.
- Track and manage maintenance and repair requests using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (ResQ).
- Maintain waste management systems, recycling protocols, and safe chemical handling procedures.
- Foster a safe and efficient working environment while upholding company policies and delivering outstanding support to culinary teams.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bilingual English-Spanish is preferred
- Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience in hospitality or BOH operations
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and refrigeration systems
- Experience with CMMS platforms (ResQ) and restaurant management systems (R365 is a plus)
- Requires experience in managing staff, including hiring, discipline, scheduling, team building. Able to communicate effectively with vendors, management team, supervisors, and staff
- Hands-on attitude with flexibility for extra hours as needed
- Ensure adherence to health and safety rules and train staff accordingly
- The ability to work unsupervised in a busy environment
- Able to stand for long periods of time (8+ hours)
- Able to walk up and down stairs
- Able to carry up to ~50lbs
- Able to push/pull/open doors
- Able to bend, squat and lean down
