Position Overview San Luis Valley Health is seeking an experienced Director of Facilities to lead and oversee facility operations across Plant Operations, Maintenance, Environmental Services (EVS), and Grounds. This is a leadership-level opportunity for someone with strong healthcare facilities experience who understands the unique operational, regulatory, and safety requirements of an acute care hospital. The Director will lead approximately 45 FTEs across multiple departments and ensure that the hospital's physical environment, utility systems, equipment, and support services operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable standards. Key Responsibilities Provide direct and indirect leadership to approximately 45 employees across Plant Operations, Maintenance, and Environmental Services. Develop clear performance expectations, customer service standards, and training plans for staff. Oversee hospital maintenance activities and ensure reliable operation of critical utility systems, including electrical power, steam, HVAC, plumbing, gas, and medical oxygen. Ensure preventive maintenance is completed according to manufacturer recommendations and hospital standards. Inspect equipment and building systems to identify operational issues and coordinate appropriate repairs. Oversee contractors and ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements. Partner with clinical and non-clinical departments to understand facility needs and develop action plans. Address employee and customer concerns promptly and professionally. Ensure compliance with
NFPA, OSHA, EPA, CMS
, and applicable local building and fire codes. Support life-safety programs, construction phasing, environmental services operations, bio-waste management, and autoclaving processes. Apply engineering principles to troubleshoot and resolve facility equipment and system issues. Manage facility operations in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Required Qualifications 5+ years of personnel management experience. Acute care hospital facility experience is required.
