Job Description
Banning Lewis Academy is a tuition-free public charter school authorized by District 49, proudly serving approximately 1,600 students across two campuses in northeastern Colorado Springs. Our mission is to create safe, supportive learning environments where students thrive academically and develop the skills, character, and mindset to engage with the world. Position Summary The Lead Facilities Manager oversees strategic facilities operations, custodial services, vendor coordination, compliance management, budgeting, preventative maintenance systems, and long-range facilities planning across both Banning Lewis Academy campuses. This role supervises the K-5 Facilities Manager and the 6-12 Facilities Manager while partnering closely with school leadership to ensure all facilities operations align with organizational priorities and campus needs. The Lead Facilities Manager serves as the primary operational leader for facilities planning, project coordination, maintenance systems, vendor partnerships, and capital improvement discussions while ensuring safe, clean, compliant, and fully operational learning environments across the organization. Essential Functions & Responsibilities1. Facilities Leadership & Supervision Supervise and support both campus Facilities Managers Establish operational expectations, systems, and accountability measures across campuses Support development of maintenance schedules, custodial systems, and operational workflows Ensure consistency in cleanliness, safety, and operational readiness across both campuses Provide coaching, guidance, and operational support to facilities teams Assist with staffing recommendations, evaluations, and operational improvement efforts 2. Strategic Facilities Planning & Operations Lead short-term and long-range facilities planning efforts across the organization Develop and maintain monthly, annual, 3-year, 5-year, and 10-year facilities planning priorities Support strategic planning regarding infrastructure, maintenance, safety, and operational systems Assist leadership with proposals, operational assessments, and campus improvement planning Coordinate operational priorities with principals and organizational leadership Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies and long-term sustainability 3. Budgeting & Financial Oversight Develop and monitor facilities and maintenance budgets across both campuses Track expenditures and assist leadership in prioritizing operational and capital spending Support forecasting related to maintenance, repairs, replacements, and facility improvements Assist with bid review, vendor pricing analysis, and proposal evaluation Provide facilities-related budget recommendations to leadership teams 4. Vendor & Contractor Management Serve as the primary contact for facilities-related vendors and contractors Oversee relationships with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, custodial, landscaping, security, and other service providers Coordinate bids, scheduling, project timelines, and contractor access Monitor vendor performance and ensure accountability to service expectations Assist with contract oversight and facilities-related service agreements 5. Maintenance, Compliance & Safety Oversee preventative maintenance systems and lifecycle planning for major building systems Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental requirements, and operational standards Coordinate required inspections and ensure follow-through on corrective actions Maintain accurate records related to inspections, compliance, maintenance, and projects Support emergency preparedness planning and campus safety initiatives 6. Projects & Capital Improvement Coordination Coordinate maintenance projects, facility upgrades, and operational improvements across campuses Partner with administration regarding ongoing facilities projects and operational priorities Assist leadership teams with planning, timelines, communication, and implementation of projects Ensure projects remain aligned to budget expectations and operational needs Minimize disruption to instruction and school operations during project work 7. Partnership with School Leadership Work directly with principals and administrative teams to prioritize campus needs Support alignment between facilities operations and instructional priorities Communicate proactively regarding timelines, projects, concerns, and operational impacts Partner with leadership regarding event operations, campus readiness, and community use of facilities Support Board-level facilities discussions and strategic planning conversations as requested 8. Event Operations & Facility Use Oversee operational readiness for school events, athletics, performances, meetings, and community activities Manage and maintain school vehicles by maintaining schedules for use and maintenance Support facility rental agreements, scheduling, and operational coordination Ensure facilities are prepared, staffed, and reset following events and activities Coordinate after-hours operational support systems QualificationsRequired Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in facilities, operations, or related field 5-10+ years of facilities or operations experience Experience supervising facilities or custodial teams Experience managing vendors, contractors, and operational projects Experience supporting budget oversight and strategic planning Preferred Experience in K-12 or multi-site educational environments Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, environmental, and building systems Experience coordinating inspections and regulatory compliance requirements Experience supporting strategic or capital planning processes Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Strong leadership and organizational skills Ability to manage competing operational priorities effectively Strong communication and relationship-building skills Ability to coordinate contractors, vendors, and cross-campus partnerships Financial oversight and long-range planning abilities Strong problem-solving and operational decision-making skills Ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a fast-paced school environment Working Conditions On-site across both Banning Lewis Academy campuses Frequent movement throughout buildings and outdoor campus areas Occasional evenings and weekends for events, projects, or urgent operational needs Performance Expectations Success in this role will be measured by: Safe, clean, and fully operational facilities across both campuses Effective supervision and coordination of campus facilities teams Successful management of vendors and contractor relationships Timely completion of required inspections and compliance measures Effective budget management and strategic planning support Strong collaboration with school leadership and operational teams Clear and proactive communication regarding facilities operations and priorities Compensation Competitive compensation package including health, dental, vision, paid leave, and retirement options.

$80,000-$95,000Pay:
