Mothers and mothers-to-be live on site while learning skills to help them support themselves and their child after they complete the program. The program is tailored to the individual mother's needs, and may include improving parenting skills, life skills and job skills.

Executive Director Position Summary The Facilities Supervisor is responsible for the overall maintenance, safety, and functionality of Malta House. The individual in this position will maintain a clean and safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors while ensuring efficient facility operations and compliance with all applicable regulations. Key Responsibilities Facility Operations & Maintenance Oversee day-to-day operations of the residential facility, including building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, elevator, safety and security systems, etc.), grounds, and equipment Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules Coordinate and perform repairs related to plumbing, electrical, elevator, HVAC, safety and security systems, and general building upkeep Disposal of larger items as needed. Move furniture and equipment as needed, ex: cribs from storage to resident rooms; office furniture and fixtures. Maintain inventory of supplies, tools, and equipment Safety & Compliance Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including health and safety standards Document trouble shooting routines for all systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, safety and security, etc.) Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments, provide emergency management and safety training to staff. Maintain fire safety systems and emergency preparedness plans Ensure adherence to ADA and other accessibility requirements Vendor & Contractor Management Source, negotiate, and manage contracts with external vendors and service providers Supervise contractors to ensure quality and timely completion of work Monitor service agreements and control costs Budget & Resource Management Assist in developing and managing the facilities budget Track expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities Prepare reports on maintenance activities and capital improvement needs Grounds & Environment Oversee landscaping, snow removal, waste management, and general exterior upkeep Ensure the property remains clean, safe, and visually appealing Support for Residential Services Collaborate with program staff to minimize disruption to residents during maintenance work Respond promptly to facility-related requests and emergencies Help create a comfortable, home-like environment for residents by maintaining confidentiality and appropriate boundaries Qualifications Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in facilities management, engineering, or related field preferred 3-5 years of experience in facilities management, property management, or maintenance Experience in nonprofit, healthcare, or residential settings is a plus Skills & Abilities Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, security) and preventive maintenance practices Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills; ability to communicate effectively with staff, vendors and leadership. Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond to emergencies Strong communication and interpersonal skills Basic computer skills (email, work orders, budgeting tools) Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required Working Conditions 15-20 hours per week, with on-call availability for emergencies Exposure to maintenance environments (e.g., mechanical rooms, outdoor conditions) Physical Requirements Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance, carry, and perform manual tasks Capable of maneuvering in small or confined spaces and climb ladders Ability to work in environments with noise, temperature extremes, weather, and hazardous materials Ability to wear personal protective equipment when appropriate Other Requirements Successful completion of a background check is required. Completion of VIRTUS training and sexual harassment training prior to starting work is preferred; these trainings must be completed within the first week of employment.
