Description The Senior Specialist, Marine Technology Facilities is responsible for the Gasoline Engine Lab, Diesel Engine Lab, Welding Lab, and Boat Bay. This position is also responsible for the College-owned marine engineering engines, boats, and equipment used for the College's degree and certification courses, non-credit courses, and equipment utilized by third parties under contract. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of Marine and Applied Sciences. This is a grant-funded position; continued employment is contingent upon the availability of grant funds. Examples of Duties 1. Maintains strict inventory control of first-aid equipment in the Marine Technology facility. 2. Submits requisitions and orders for marine engineering and welding inventory, as necessary. 3. Obtains and adheres to applicable service and repair manuals for maintenance of CFK marine engineering and welding equipment. 4. Ensures repairs to all marine engineering systems, engines, welding machines, and equipment are documented in appropriate logs. 5. Follows current industry standards, procedures, and manufacturer requirements. 6. Conducts regularly scheduled preventative maintenance checks of hoists, cranes, through-floor hatches, air compressors, and safety equipment in the Marine Technology and Welding facilities. 7. Maintains, inspects, and overhauls gasoline and diesel engines (including generators) to meet manufacturer requirements. 8. Maintains and repairs Marine Engineering small vessels and trailers. 9. Works with Faculty to set up and clean up for in-class labs. 10. Works with Faculty to schedule lab assistants and duties. 11. Actively supports faculty and students in the lab and during lab activities. 12. Maintains inventory of equipment, tools, and parts. 13. Completes annual inventory of equipment on property list. 14. Maintains the College's Marine Technology and Welding Facilities. 15. Holds current certifications in servicing and repair with appropriate manufacturer(s). 16. Assist with the maintenance of College's vessels, as appropriate. 17. Implements and follows College Marine Engineering and Welding safety policies. 18. Maintains close liaison with other departments and contractors utilizing the Marine Technology and Welding facilities. 19. Attends training as required. 20. Assist in College recruitment and retention efforts, as appropriate. 21. Other related duties as assigned. Education and Qualifications:

• Associate's in Marine Engineering, Management, and Seamanship degree or other related field required.
• Professional experience preferred.
• Small boat handling experience preferred.

Licenses, Certifications or Registrations:

• Current Industry Certifications preferred (e.g., ABYC, Yamaha, AWS).
• A valid Florida Driver's license.

Physical Skills:

• Ability to use various hand and power tools for maintenance of equipment and facilities.
• Ability to lift objects weighing up to 70lbs.

Environmental Conditions:

• Works inside in an office environment.
• Works in a marine engine repair and maintenance shop environment.
• Works outside in various climate conditions.
