The Renaissance Center is one of the premier event venues in the Joliet area, hosting weddings, corporate functions, galas, celebrations, and private events. We pride ourselves on exceptional hospitality, flawless execution, and creating memorable experiences for every guest. We're looking for an energetic, organized, and driven Operations Manager to lead our team and oversee the successful execution of events at Renaissance Center. Position Summary This position serves as the primary point of contact for booked clients on-site and is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the facility. The Operations Manager will manage staff scheduling, coordinate event setup and execution, and serve as the on-site manager during events to ensure every function runs smoothly and exceeds expectations. Responsibilities Serve as the primary on-site contact for clients once events are booked, ensuring all event details are properly communicated and executed. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the banquet and event facility , maintaining a professional, organized, and guest-ready environment. Manage the execution of weddings, corporate events, private parties, showers, celebrations, and other functions from setup through completion. Serve as the Manager on Duty during events , actively overseeing service and addressing client, guest, or operational needs as they arise. Create and manage staff schedules based on the facility's event calendar and anticipated business levels. Supervise, direct, and support banquet staff before, during, and after events. Conduct pre-event staff meetings to communicate timelines, assignments, service expectations, and special requests. Coordinate room setup, table placement, linens, décor, service stations, and other event requirements according to event specifications. Ensure proper staffing levels and make adjustments when necessary to maintain efficient operations and excellent service. Monitor service throughout each event to ensure Renaissance Center's standards for hospitality, presentation, cleanliness, and professionalism are consistently met. Build positive relationships with clients and help create a welcoming, polished experience from their arrival through the conclusion of their event. Handle client concerns professionally and proactively, resolving issues whenever possible before they impact the guest experience. Oversee opening and closing procedures for the facility. Maintain organization and cleanliness throughout event spaces, service areas, storage areas, and back-of-house spaces. Monitor banquet supplies, equipment, linens, and operating materials and communicate purchasing or maintenance needs to leadership. Assist with interviewing, onboarding, training, coaching, and developing banquet staff. Maintain accountability among team members and address attendance, performance, uniform, and service-standard issues as needed. Communicate effectively with management regarding upcoming events, staffing needs, facility concerns, client requests, and operational challenges. Perform additional operational and management duties as needed to support the success of the facility. Qualifications Minimum 2 years of experience in hospitality, banquet operations, event management, restaurant management, or a similar leadership position. Previous experience supervising and scheduling employees strongly preferred. Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Confident, professional presence when interacting with clients, guests, vendors, and employees. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain composed and make decisions in a fast-paced event environment. Detail-oriented with a high standard for service, cleanliness, presentation, and event execution. Ability to lead by example and work alongside the team when necessary. Familiarity with weddings, banquets, catered events, or private-event operations is strongly preferred. Schedule & Availability This is a full-time management position with a schedule based on the facility's event calendar. Candidates must have flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as business requires . Because this is an operational leadership position, the Operations Manager is expected to be present for key events and during peak business periods.
