Hiring Agency Justice & Public Safety Cabinet | Department of Juvenile Justice Location 495 Forest Hills Drive Morehead, KY 40351 USA Description The Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice is a multi-faceted agency that serves juveniles of the Commonwealth. The Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) seeks to serve youth in the least restrictive, appropriate placement possible. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Assists in daily operations of a Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) facility under direction of the Juvenile Facility Manager or Administrative Coordinator with regards to treatment and business responsibilities. Assists in the daily operations of the program and provides daily supervision to assigned staff. Recommends personnel actions including disciplinary, etc. Administers all aspects of the facility in the absence of the Juvenile Facility Manager or Administrative Coordinator. Interprets/enforces policies and procedures. Coordinates American Correctional Association (ACA) accreditation process. Consults with attorneys, parents, departmental personnel and other interested parties as they relate to services provided to juveniles in DJJ care. May be required to restrain out-of-control juveniles. Applicants must successfully pass a physical examination and be able to perform all essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodation. The cost of the physical examination will be billed through the employee's health insurance; however, any applicable co-pays will be reimbursed by the department. EDUCATION
Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

Experience in the supervision and care of young adults (ages 12-21) in a community setting, residential, correctional, group home, detention, military, or day treatment program will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Two years of this experience must have been as a supervisor in a community setting, residential, correctional, group home, detention, military, or day treatment program.

(AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE Working Conditions Typically works in a detention or residential facility. Probationary Period This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in
KRS 18A.111.
