About Us:
Magnolia Memory Residence is a boutique memory care organization dedicated to providing compassionate, dignified, and personalized care for individuals living with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. Our model emphasizes small-scale communities, meaningful engagement, and strong family partnerships. We are preparing to open several new memory care residences in Mandeville and Covington, Louisiana within the next 6-12 months. Each community will serve approximately 16 residents , allowing for high-quality, individualized care. As we enter this exciting growth phase, we are seeking an experienced and mission-driven Memory Care Facility Director to lead both the pre-opening process and ongoing operations. Position Summary The Memory Care Facility Director will oversee the set-up, opening, and ongoing management of Magnolia Memory Residence communities. This role requires a hands-on leader with experience in memory care operations, staff leadership, family engagement, marketing, and regulatory compliance. The Director will be responsible for guiding the communities from pre-opening through full occupancy , ensuring operational excellence, regulatory readiness, and a warm, well-run environment for residents, families, and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Pre-Opening & Start-Up Leadership Lead all aspects of facility start-up and opening , including operational planning, staffing, vendor coordination, and readiness assessments. Assist with state licensing, inspections, policies, procedures, and regulatory documentation required for opening memory care facilities. Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and ownership to ensure facilities are fully prepared, safe, and operational prior to opening. Develop initial staffing plans, onboarding processes, and training programs. Operational Leadership Oversee daily operations of multiple memory care communities, ensuring resident safety, cleanliness, and high standards of care. Ensure facilities consistently reflect Magnolia Memory Residence's mission, values, and person-centered care philosophy . Manage relationships with third-party medication management providers and oversee quality and compliance. Oversee food service operations, whether managed in-house or through a third-party catering partner. Ensure compliance with all applicable state, federal, and local regulations . Staff Management & Development Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and retain high-quality caregivers and support staff. Foster a positive, accountable workplace culture focused on compassion, teamwork, and excellence in dementia care. Provide ongoing education and coaching in best practices for memory care and resident engagement. Resident & Family Relations Serve as a primary point of contact for families, building trust through clear communication, responsiveness, and empathy . Oversee resident care planning and ensure individualized support that promotes dignity and quality of life. Marketing & Community Outreach Support pre-opening marketing efforts to build awareness, establish referral relationships, and drive occupancy. Represent Magnolia Memory Residence within the local community, including healthcare providers, senior service organizations, and family networks. Assist ownership with tours, inquiries, and relationship-building with prospective families. Financial & Administrative Oversight Manage operational budgets, staffing costs, and resource allocation. Monitor occupancy, staffing ratios, and operational performance. Prepare reports and provide updates to ownership and executive leadership.
Qualifications:
Education Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Gerontology, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field preferred. Master's degree in a related discipline is a plus. Experience 5+ years of leadership or management experience in memory care, assisted living, senior living, or long-term care. Experience with facility start-ups, licensing, or opening new senior living communities is strongly preferred. Proven experience managing staff, operations, and family relationships in a care setting. Preferred Certifications (Not Required) Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) or equivalent dementia-focused training. Assisted Living or Senior Living leadership certification. Skills & Competencies Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities with families, staff, vendors, and regulators. Ability to manage multiple facilities and priorities in a growth environment. Marketing and community outreach experience preferred. Compassionate, mission-aligned approach to dementia care.
