Job Description

Navigator Homes of Martha's Vineyard is seeking an experienced and dependable Director of Environmental Services (EVS) to oversee the maintenance and environmental services operations of our community. This leadership position is responsible for maintaining a safe, functional, compliant, and welcoming environment for our residents, employees, and visitors. Key Responsibilities Direct and oversee the daily operations of the Environmental Services/Maintenance Department. Develop, implement, and maintain preventive maintenance programs, policies, procedures, and departmental standards. Perform and coordinate routine facility and equipment maintenance and repairs. Supervise outside contractors and vendors and ensure work is completed according to facility requirements and contracts. Maintain compliance with applicable DPH, state, federal, local, building, fire, safety, and infection-control requirements . Conduct required fire drills, maintain required maintenance and safety logs, and participate in emergency/disaster preparedness. Manage departmental staffing, scheduling, training, orientation, performance evaluations, and disciplinary processes. Ensure EVS staff complete all required mandatory in-services and safety training. Coordinate purchasing, supplies, equipment, and inventory for the department. Develop and monitor the department budget, expenditures, staffing levels, and operational needs. Maintain safe, organized, and compliant maintenance and storage areas. Participate in facility surveys, inspections, quality-improvement initiatives, and corrective action plans. Collaborate with leadership and other departments to address facility needs and ensure services support resident care. Maintain resident confidentiality and immediately report concerns involving safety, abuse, neglect, grievances, or other regulatory matters. Promote a resident-centered environment in which all residents are treated with dignity, kindness, and respect. Perform other duties as assigned by the Administrator. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will have previous maintenance, facilities, or environmental services leadership experience , preferably within a skilled nursing, assisted living, healthcare, or senior living environment. Candidates should demonstrate strong knowledge of preventive maintenance, building and life-safety requirements, staff supervision, vendor management, budgeting, and regulatory compliance. Strong leadership, organization, communication, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments are essential.
