As a dedicated and hardworking Custodian/ Facilities Assistant who is good at cleaning, organizing and fixing things, you will fit right in at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro North. Boys & Girls Club of Metro North has been a staple in the community providing essential programs for youth for over 50 years. Currently, our Clubs serve over 650 children a day, operate out of eight sites and run five licensed afterschool programs, including the Stoneham Clubhouse, three teen centers, an outdoor pool, and a community boating program. Our mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens.Position Overview:
This position is responsible for ensuring the overall cleanliness and functionality of our facilities. This role involves sweeping, mopping, dusting, trash removal and general sanitization of bathrooms, classrooms, offices and program spaces.This position requires a strong janitorial background. Key Responsibilities :
Facility Upkeep:
- Maintain restrooms, classrooms, program spaces and common areas to ensure cleanliness, sanitation and safety.
- Perform trash removal. Monitor and restock cleaning supplies as needed. Respond to emergency cleaning and maintenance requests promptly. Equipment & Safety Checks
- Ensure all maintenance tools and supplies are stored properly and safely.
- Assist with setting up and taking down equipment for events and programs.
General Maintenance & Repairs:
- Help the Facilities Manager with minor plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repairs as needed.
- Identify and report facility hazards or larger maintenance issues to management.
- Assist with building opening and closing procedures.
- Moving and lifting furniture and other items.
- Painting interior walls and trim.
- Assist with seasonal landscaping, lawn mowing and snow removal.
- Other tasks & projects as assigned.
Skills and experience:
Required Skills:
General Cleaning:
Proficiency in the sanitization of all facility spacesTool Proficiency:
Experience using janitorial equipment, hand tools, and maintenance equipment.Safety Awareness:
Familiarity with OSHA regulations and safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).Physical Stamina:
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing, walking and bending.Communication:
Clear communication skills and the ability to work as a team member.- Attention to
Detail:
Ability to follow detailed instructions, maintain clean and safe work areas, and conduct thorough inspections of equipment and facilities.- Reliable transportation required.
Preferred Experience:
- Previous janitorial/ maintenance experience: At least 1-3 years Physical requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. - Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs The role requires standing, walking, bending, squatting, reaching, twisting and lifting heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), and performing manual labor for extended periods.

Monday - Friday mornings, 29 hours per week- Work is performed both indoors and outdoors.
