Part-time (20 hrs per week min), flexible YMCA Camp Chickami is a traditional summer day camp located in Wayland, MA. Founded in 1955, Camp Chickami has inspired kids with countless opportunities to laugh, lead and make lasting friendships. Together, our proven programs and trained counselors deliver meaningful and memorable camp experiences that keep families coming back year after year after year.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Facilities Assistant is responsible for the opening and preparation of camp facilities, daily custodial care and housekeeping of the Camp Chickami property in Wayland, MA.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Make sure all facilities are free of any safety hazards.
Daily:
empty all trash, clean all lavatories with disinfectant including bowls and sinks, wipe down and windex all mirrors, wash floors, clean partitions. Sweep and damp mop all camp buildings and program space when necessary. Keep up cleanliness of food and milk storage area. Maintain fields. Maintain trails. Maintain tools and equipment, store in proper places. Make sure all toxic liquids are labeled and properly stored. Paint when necessary. Communicate any major issues with the Facility Director. Aware of camp emergency procedures and prepared to act if warranted. Maintain positive public relations with visitors, and the general public at all times. Able to visually and audibly identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to assigned activities. Submit all required paperwork on time. Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be 18 years of age or older. Physical ability to handle equipment up to fifty pounds. Physical ability to work at heights over six feet. Holder of MA Driver s License High School education or above. Successfully pass the Massachusetts mandated CORI and SORI check Certified in CPR and First Aid and AED. Positive attitude and ability to build a cohesive team Willingness to go above and beyond the written job description Self-directed and ability to work independently.
ABUSE RISK MANAGEMENT
Follow employee/volunteer screening requirements and use screening instruments to screen for abuse risk. Provide employee/volunteer with on-going supervision and training related to abuse risk. Provide employee/volunteer with regular feedback regarding their boundaries with youth. Require employee/volunteer to adhere to policies and procedures related to abuse risk. Respond quickly to policy and procedure violations using the organization s progressive disciplinary procedures. Respond seriously and confidentially to reports of suspicious and inappropriate behaviors. Follow mandated reporting requirements. Communicate to all employees/volunteers the organization s commitment to protect youth from abuse. Report essential abuse risk management information appropriately and timely so it can be escalated as necessary.
Physical Demands:
Work in fast paced environment that requires patience, focus and diligence. Meet strength and lifting requirements of up to 50lbs. See and observe all sections of an assigned zone or area of responsibility.
