Job Description

Job Description The candidate will be responsible for running an Electrical trade crew made up of electrical employees of all knowledge ranges. Candidate needs strong background in temporary power distribution, electrical field for installation, planning, and trouble shooting. Will meet with Section Manager to provide updates to ensure daily and long-term projects are carried out.
Responsibilities will include:
Completing assignments within budget constraints and scheduled objectives. Coordinating and facilitating resolution in accordance with the union agreement. Coordinating hook up and disconnecting ships, ship sections, and ship units across the shipyard. Candidate will maintain a high level of credibility with the customer, peers, and employees. Operating under the BIW Business Operating System (BOS), the Temporary Power FLS will ensure compliance with safety, quality, and performance standards while coordinating with other key stakeholders to meet overall milestones.
Key Responsibilities Safety Leadership:
Ensuring safe installation of temporary electrical systems. Ensure Safety is the top priority in everything we do. Ensure the team stays up to date on all safety talks. Interpretation and verification of OSHA/ANSI/NIOSH and other standards.
Project Execution:
Effectively create plans for hooking and unhooking ships/ship sections. Ensure temporary power equipment and systems are in safe working condition. Ensure an inventory of ready equipment is kept for future jobs.
Team Collaboration and Communication:
Required to support Weekend Duty on Rotation (Estimate 2 weekends per year). Ability to work effectively between vendors and customers. Strong customer service & communication skills. Support and administer the labor contracts. Strong motivator and team builder.
Continuous Improvement:
Demonstrated ability facilitating problem resolution Required/Preferred Education/Training High School diploma or GED required. Graduate BIW Apprentice or Associate's Degree in an Electrical field preferred.
NFPA 70 E
familiarity. Required/Preferred Experience Exposure to temporary power systems. Knowledge of ships construction basics. Strong self-motivation and ability to be flexible. Maintain a positive attitude.
