Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into an impactful opportunity as a Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year, supporting K-5 students in a vibrant educational setting near Bath, ME. This full-time contract role invites caring professionals to champion student success through differentiated instruction and comprehensive behavioral supports. Your expertise in working with diverse learners will be essential as you design and deliver individualized educational programs, fostering both academic achievement and social-emotional growth. The ideal candidate is passionate about inclusive education, skilled at collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and experienced in the creation and execution of positive behavioral support plans. Familiarity with Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) is highly valued, as is the ability to adapt to students' varying behavioral and academic needs.
Qualifications:
Valid Maine 282 certification and active CHRC clearance (both required) Experience in Special Education, ideally working with K-5 age groups Knowledge and hands-on practice applying positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS) Familiarity with designing and implementing MTSS frameworks Willingness to participate in Safety Care training Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, staff, and families
Responsibilities:
