- Sunday, leading the custodial team, ensuring a clean and welcoming experience to guests, and assisting with general maintenance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the position will consist of, but are not limited to, the following: Assign, train, inspect, and evaluate the activities of the facilities crew engaged in janitorial and event set-up duties Inspect and ensure completion of work assignments Attend training and seminars on safety issues; train custodial staff Inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment and request repairs as needed; make minor/interim repairs as needed Compile written reports as directed Perform quality, service, and safety inspections; monitor employees for proper use of personal protective equipment, supplies, and equipment Act as the conduit of information between management and front-line staff Maintain detailed records Track and maintain inventory of janitorial supplies Report employee personnel, customer, and tenant issues to the Facilities Director Serve as the weekend manager on duty with responsibility for overseeing facility operations and handling issues and concerns as they arise Provide corrective action recommendations on areas that need improvement Uphold all processes, procedures and policies of the Downtown Market Oversee tenant and employee trash and recycling programs, including training of staff and tenants Other duties as assignedRequired Qualifications:
High School Diploma Minimum 2 years of janitorial experience Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience Knowledge of janitorial methods and procedures, materials, chemicals and equipment used in cleaning buildings and grounds maintenance Knowledge of existing safety laws, rules, methods and procedures including applicable OSHA and EPA regulations to ensure the safety of staff, the public, and building occupants Methods of planning, prioritizing, coordinating, organizing, scheduling and supervising Methods and techniques of inventory control and record keeping Methods, equipment, tools and materials used in grounds and facilities maintenance, facility cleaning, and event set up Strong understanding of basic risk management Knowledge of use, storage, and maintenance of custodial and grounds keeping equipment Commercial kitchen cleaning experience preferred Ability to work with minimal supervision Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply (English/Spanish) Capacity to Succeed Mental Capacity Strong attention to detail and problem solving skills. Work with arms extended at or above shoulder height for prolonged periods of time to perform cleaning and/or maintenance tasks Sufficient mobility in wrists, elbows and shoulders to rotate joints several times per day while using tools and equipment Stand and walk for prolonged periods of time Tolerate exposure to commercial cleaning products, fertilizers and other commonly used custodial and horticultural compounds Wear any and all required protective clothing and equipment Quickly access all areas of outdoor and indoor areas of the market Time Capacity Excellent time management skills, and ability to work on simultaneous projects with tight and varied deadlines.
