A strong skill set is needed to plan, organize, supervise, coordinate and control the activities of the plant operations and maintenance functions which are necessary in maintaining the physical structures, HVAC, mechanical, electrical systems, utilities, and grounds of the hospital in an operative and safe working condition. Must be highly motivated and able to work independently and comfortable with project management. Accountable to the VP of Ancillary Services for planning and maintaining an effective organization, for administering labor and material controls, for training of maintenance personnel on safety and for effective management practices. Daily interaction with Organizational Leaders and other hospital personnel, medical staff, patients/residents, and visitors. Manage a team of 8 maintenance technicians and provide them with hands on demonstration to facilitate their growth and development. Experience in budgeting and long-range planning is needed to ensure the development of current and future assets. Able to plan, organize, direct and control the facilities management functions of the hospital, including but not limited to building maintenance operation, environmental services, laundry services, grounds care, transportation, safety and regulatory compliance. Establish goals, objectives, standards of performance, develop and implement operating policies and procedures; interpret policies, standards, regulations and codes to personnel. This position requires a college degree in a related engineering field. Minimum of 5 years' experience in a healthcare setting is preferred. 10 years' managerial experience with budget and personnel responsibilities is required. Knowledge of Healthcare regulations, (e.g. Hospital, DNV, NFPA, JCAHO, State, Federal) health and safety rules, emergency management, hazardous materials standards, policies and procedures. Training or experience in building construction or facilities management and capable of reading blueprints. Position is open until filled.
