Data Center Facilities Manager - Mission Critical Data Center - Kansas City, USA Kansas City Metropolitan Area $120,000 Base Salary + Benefits Monday-Friday | Shared Weekend On-Call Rotation Are you an experienced facilities professional ready to take the next step in your data center career? Do you have the technical expertise to maintain a mission-critical facility - and the leadership skills to build and develop a high-performing operations team? An established mission-critical infrastructure organization is hiring a Data Center Facilities Manager in the Kansas City area. As the first key appointment within a growing facilities operations team, you'll take ownership of the site, help shape its operational structure and play a central role in hiring the technicians who will support you. This is an opportunity to lead from the front. You'll serve as the senior on-site contact, overseeing uptime, critical infrastructure, maintenance, vendors, operational procedures and client delivery within an environment where your decisions will have a direct and visible impact. What You'll Be Doing Take ownership of the safe, reliable and efficient operation of a mission-critical data center Serve as the primary on-site contact for the client and key stakeholders Help build, lead and develop the facilities operations team Maintain uptime across critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure Coordinate preventive, corrective and emergency maintenance Manage incidents, technical escalations and emergency response Oversee specialist vendors, contractors and service providers Manage site access, security requirements and operational compliance Maintain accurate documentation and ensure the facility remains audit-ready Develop, review and implement SOPs, MOPs and EOPs Support future infrastructure upgrades and evolving site requirements Promote a culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement What We're Looking For Experience working within a data center or similarly critical 24/7 environment Previous experience as a Data Center Facilities Manager, Critical Facilities Manager, Operations Manager or experienced Lead Technician Strong knowledge of critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure Experience with UPS systems, generators, switchgear, electrical distribution, HVAC, chillers and fire-suppression systems Proven experience managing maintenance activities, vendors, incidents and operational procedures The ability to lead and develop technicians while remaining technically credible Strong client-facing communication and relationship-management skills A calm, solutions-focused approach to operational challenges and emergency situations A degree or technical background in electrical engineering, facilities management or a related discipline is preferred Electrical qualifications or licensing would be advantageous Direct data center experience is preferred. However, strong facilities professionals from other mission-critical environments - including hospitals, semiconductor facilities, telecommunications infrastructure and military operations - are also encouraged to apply.
