REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3-5 years experience in healthcare billing and accounts payable
  • Proficiency with healthcare EMR systems and corporate accounting systems
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Working knowledge of Medicare Chapter 9 and State Medicaid guidelines
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff and external constituencies
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Direct experience with hospice billing and facility room and board workflows
EDUCATIONAL AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Associates Degree Certified Healthcare Billing and Management Executive, Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist, or Certified Professional Coder certification strongly preferred
KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCY
Basic knowledge of all procedures and processes within an Accounting/Finance department Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization and with external constituencies Maintain strictest level of confidentiality with all corporate and patient information Follow instruction from Chief Financial Officer and all other professional staff
JOB DUTIES
(includes but not limited to the following): 1) Identify, research, and appeal denied or underpaid claims from Medicare Administrative Contractors, State Medicaid Agencies, and Commercial Insurance Carriers 2) Routinely analyze the accounts receivable aging reports targeting past due facility and commercial insurance related claims to secure payment and prevent write-offs 3) Review and audit monthly facility invoices. Cross reference bills against internal EMR clinical documentation to verify levels of care and authorization dates 4) Accurately code and post facility invoices for payment in the accounts payable system and general ledger 5) Generate month end accounts payable accrual reports for outstanding or unvouchered facility room liabilities 6) Serve as primary point of contact for external facility billing offices to proactively resolve payment discrepancies, overlapping day conflicts, and rate differences 7) Serve as a backup for Revenue Cycle Specialist position including eligibility verifications 8) Responds to emails and voice messages daily. 9) Other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to complete all physical demands of the job, which may include, but not be limited to: the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, carry supplies, and read normal typewritten print. Have corrected vision and hearing within normal range and have manual dexterity with normal range of motion of all extremities. May be requested to work weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime. Must be able to work alone without usual support systems immediately available in acute care settings.
EOE Pay:
$50,000.00 - $52,000.00 per year
